I think it's funny how the Barrett in their picture looks like it was constructed of multicoloured Duplo blocks...God I hope that isn't their final colour scheme biggrin.gif

Nope, solid models look like that to show part boundaries. No need to worry (I hope). mellow.gif

Excuse my sarcasticness. When has a company ever produced a REASONABLE priced M82a1. Everytime I see a company produce a M82a1 variant they are nothing but disappointments for one reason or another.

Madbull if you're reading this.....Don't make the mistake of making it an 8mm gun, and store the gas in the magazine! If it is gas, there's plenty of space. If it's an AEG, use something like a version 4 GB or something. Now if it's spring, it makes a good project gun for me. In short, don't disapoint us~

I just have voice my opinion on the matter, because VFC and Smokey failed drasticaly.

How about making a gun which has interchangeable internals so you could use 8mm or 6mm BBs?

That'd be impressive.

It would require two sets of barrels, hop systems, nozzle, compression/expension systems, and magazines. Highly impractical for a production scale.

no it wouldnt

it would require an adjustable system, and a repacable inner barrel and hopup.

an adjustable system should be in it, or at least it would if I made it, so you can tune for accuracy and gas effeciency.

an inner barrel and hopup would increase price by a very small amount considering its probably over the $1k mark.

So, would you care to explain to me how a magazine that would carry 6mm BB's house 8mm types, or vice-versa? If the BB's and inner barrel diameter increase, how will an air system for 6mm guns efficently push an 8mm BB out. You're not thinking on the overall picture.

yes I am, ive designed a system that does just what ive said.

6mm and 8mm feeding can be made very simply, the nozzle does not need to chance, little insertable spacers on either side of the magazine feed can go between the two, or since its a flat m82 magazine, a clever latching device and being able to reverse the magazine (eg put it in backwards) at a slightlangle and have 6mm at one end and 8mm at the other would do it as well, though it would be a problem if the individual was too stupid to put the right side of the magazine into the gun.

inner barrel diameter does not matter, gas expansion rate and valve speed matters, to fire out of 6,8,10,15,ect. mm barrels, you dont need a bigger nozzle, you just need to overbuild the valve to begin with and have the volumn of released gas be adjustable (you can do this very simple with a 2 way valve and have a expansion chamber with a screw into it to adjust the volumn of gas it can contain, of course that part is unnecessary, just setting it to fire 8mm's will just cause a bigger poof when firing 6mm's.

not field adjustable but definatly doable without replacing much of anything.

Why? Do You have personal experience with 8mm? For my project sniper guns, I prefere 8mm wink.gif

Yes, 8mm is impractical to me. I like BB's I easy get and locally, especialy in managable weights, and brand varieties. I personally don't like the flight path it has compared to a 6mm BB. I just don't think it's a good calibre at all. Not much use trying to convince me that 8mm is better than 6mm, I have my own views about it, and I think it sucks.

Well, I have 3 sniper rifles in 8mm and I thing, that for sniping it is good choice. And the "flight" is more stabile and straight than 6mm in high powered rifles...
