Very interested in this. I was on ebay the other day when i spotted that China was knocking out softshells for hikers on the cheap, so it looks like they're producing everything these days. If only they'd do goretex jackets too!

Edit: Just checked ebay - there are cheap import goretex jackets in existence! Brilliant!

I really want PCU so bad, i'd settle for a cheap knock-off. The hercules one seems a little out of my price range.

Yeah last time I saw at eBay a PCU Level 5 Soft Shell Jacket size Large ends at $300.00 bucks and another made by Patagonia same size selling for $335.00, plus the pants to go with it that is $250.00 at eBay.

Damnit missed a listing on ebay for the PCU lvl 5 top that ended at $170,

i want a pair so bad. they are really nice, i have bidded on like 5 different pairs on ebay but never win...

I've owned both the PCU and MCU softshells, along with a lot of civvie ones from the likes of TAD, Mountain Equipment and RAB.

The worst - in terms of design and build quality - by far, have been the MCU and PCU...

Still, i'm sure that the Chinese can improve upon the appallingly bad stitching of the real-deal PCU

so having the ORC PCU's are now useless...samething happened when i bought the Crye Precision Combat set a few months later REPLICA's come out.

Did you forget that some of us actually like buying functional equipment instead of chinese ######? I dont know about you but i bought a PCU because i was looking for a lightweight jacket to wear when it actually gets under 70 degrees here in florida. I also wanted a jacket that repelled moisture better than most of the ###### i could find in sports authority. Cripes man, some of us actually buy things to use them rather than look pretty standing around in them.

Could you tell me which you like better? The PCU or the mCU? I am in the process of looking at buying, but I don't know which to get... Also, do you know the sizing chart for the PCU, and does it run small or large compard to the MCU?

i thought i looked kinda pretty in them pcu's

I love my real pcu lvl 5.

only gripe is that the waterproof zipper is pretty annoying. its hard to zip up sometimes. (the mcu does away with this for a regular zipper)

However its a very versatile piece of clothing as its a layering system.

One can only wonder if the knockoffs' water resistance will last over time.

i like my MCUs. good as part of a layering system. i wear it all the time around town

magz this is not to bash you or anything but wouldn't something like northface instead? The denali jacket looks really good. I have always had good luck with Northface junk. They look a bit better than pcu if your walking on the street. It also looks acceptable for airsofting too.

Quite possibly so. The reason why i went with the PCU is because i go with what i know. I dont know the first thing about North Face Jackets. The military doesnt always have the best but for the most part they certainly do have some pretty wicked stuff. If it works for guys that are fighting in this stuff its certainly going to work for me on the streets. I like to have stuff thats over engineered.

Now, having said that the PCU certainly isnt over engineered lol.

im glad i waited for the knock offs for airsoft lol. and yeah the real deal pcu's the stitching is horrible on them.

So has anyone bought the replica PCU's on ebaybanned or the MCU on dragonred? I'm preparing to buy them unless someone steps in here.
