My copy arrived this morning, courtesy of Airsoft Scotland.

Just flicking through it, I see a GBB disassembly guide by snowman. Very nice. Flicking further forward (yes, I was reading the Japanese way laugh.gif), I come across numerous reviews of kit and guns. Superb. Then a geardo feature. Yummy.

Flicking towards the front, I see the Arnie's Airsoft logo in the top left of the news page. 'Sweet', I think. I flick another page forward, and I find...

...that the entire news section is WRITTEN BY ARNIE.

Top stuff, it really is.

This stuff's a mile above Safezone ever was - nicely written, no dodgy articles with bits missed off, great pics, lots of reviews, well-written news, and no sickening 'ASCUK' branding all over it - it has Arnie's logo on both news pages, and his name on the staff list, and that's it.

This is great stuff, and props to you Arn wink.gif

I'm signing up now! biggrin.gif
xRAZERx
Bring it to AG mate?
HaVoC
Was just about to say that - will do biggrin.gif

I don't mean to sound like an ######, but what's with all this "sickening ASCUK branding" stuff?

Will definitely be interested in buying a copy if any are going to be available at AG biggrin.gif
HaVoC
It was just the way most of the articles within Safezone were written by ASCUK mods and the like, and ASCUK seemed to be the 'official sponsor' of the magazine.

In this case, there isn't really an 'official sponsor' - the articles are written by a wide range of people from different sites. Arnie gets some free advertising, but that's it - he only writes the news, and gets a small benner of his site for the trouble. Seems fair to me.

Doubt there'll be any at AG, but I'll bring mine for you to look at. Airsoft Scotland only want £3.50 plus P&P for a copy so it's not too bad.

By the way, the G&G M14 gets pwned with a review score of 4/10 rofl.gif
snowman
Was the review on the G&G M14 a before or after update model?

Cheers.
Robot 2000
before I imagine, since I don't think ASS would ship out crappy guns they'd worked on themselves wink.gif
HaVoC
Before. It stopped functioning before they could finish the review laugh.gif

There's a list of improvements that G&G claim they've made at the end - they obviously got onto G&G about the poor quality.

AA haven't got them in yet....

fancy a copy now.........what happened to my wallet?

if it better than safezone then its worth it

Personally, seeing the ASCUK logo on anything is enough to put me off. They're a bunch of inbred thugs, bullies and morons.

I would never touch anything with an ASCUK logo on it. If a shop affiliated itself with them I'd never shop there again. If equipment or guns were endorsed by them I'd refuse to buy it. If a site was connected with them I wouldn't play there.

Is that clear enough? wink.gif

So in one day, you've slagged off everyone on ASCUK AND Airsoft Retreat?

I take it only Arnie's contributors are worthy biggrin.gif

But where does that leave forum-whores, like me? ohmy.gif

But not everyone on ASCUK is like that. I daresay that ASCUK think there are some inbred thugs, bullies and morons on Arnie's tongue.gif

I don't know the whole story behind it all and I'm not really wanting to know, it just seems a bit strange for their to be such rivalry between two Internet forums.

I guess all that stuff about "Internet. SERIOUS BUISNESS!" is true after all wink.gif

Seeing as the title is "international" it would be silly not to. Send them an email.

The review was a b4, infact the m14's came directly from G&G via Red Wolf, we do have another two on their way from G&G which one will be placed on long term test and we'll give the other one away as a competition prize

Hey Chaps,

I bought myself a USP from 'South West Airsoft Trading' in Gloucester this week. And was given a free copy of the mag as a promotion!!

It's actually very good, finally a decent magazine to cater for us!! The articles are well written and there are plenty of reviews too.

Anyway, by the looks of it, S.w.a.t's got plenty of copies in stock and Eliot's always good with the deals!

Rock on!

USP's ruuule ok

I just call em like I see em. wink.gif

To be serious, though, I did find the ASCUK forums to be offensive and argumentative enough to put me off buying or using anything endorsed by them.

I'm just mentioning this in case any potential sponsors are reading this. A great way to immediately segregate your consumers into "for and against" is to stick that ASCUK logo on a product or service.

I got myself a copy too, hope its saweeet

HI alljsut ordered a copy from airscot...any ideas if its going to become a feature mag on the high street like at WH Smiths?

if so when?
cheers
xRAZERx
I'll review it because I have a few copies.

Overall it is a good colour magazine, well printed on high quality material.

It is very hard to rip and it does not burn well at all. Once you manage to set fire to it the flame glows green....
Kosac
I have to say that the burnability of it was not up to the same standards of safezone or for that nmatter the VCR bill
Tirpitz10
Burnability?

Why were you checking to see how well it burns?
xRAZERx
Emergency fire use in the field

You have to test these kind of things properly.....

You can't just read 5 pages from 6 meters away and then count that as a review
Sledge
A friend of my gran's cleaner's son's milkman had a copy of AI break on green gas. Although, it might have been a Ford Fiesta, now that I think about it.

Read a little of AI, didn't think much of it. Articles were a little... meh.

Just for you Hissing Sid, a complete list of all UK sites and Retailers affiliated with (having a forum is an affiliation) with ASCUK, that should help you in your quest not to use anything endorsed by ASCUK, I haven't listed International Retailers/Manufacturers who use the free news service, but they are as numerous as the above list.

Oddly enough AI has a thread on ASCUK which also affiliates it to them, so i hope you will be man enough to stick to your guns and not use any of these companies,

Be better if you would just drop the whole ASC thing, everytime i read about it it is on here with you or HaVoC bleating about how hard done by you were, try acting like you did there on here, see how long you/s last on this forum,

You could also visit the ASC guys at Beltring and be equally vocal with them in person, being reasonable individuals i am sure they will sit there and listen.

And as a side note, ASCUK has no sponsors, it is independantly financed hence has no ties to Sites/Retailers except for aiding their businesses with free forums/news sections, which i am sure they appreciate.

just to stay on topic, i got my copy of AI in from AD the other day, it is OK on par with my opinion of Safezone, like Safezone it will get better with each release, i look forward to future releases.

I'll end on this, Horses for Courses, you don't like something, don't use it, no point bitching endlessly about it,

Have a Nice Day biggrin.gif

My copy arrived on Saturday from Airsoft Scotland, it's a great magazine. Some great, in depth and informative reviews, some excellent pictures, and excellent value for money. I'll be picking up the next issue for sure.

Then why continually ###### and moan about it, get over it, it's obviously something you really miss seeing the amount it is discussed, anyway,
This thread is about AI,
my post was to highlight what happens when people post without thinking, I very much doubt H_S will be avoiding all those outlets, it was not intended to add fuel to the fire of a subject that is so boring and done to death,
Am i the only one bored of it ?

No I'm bored of it too, so please shut the *fruitcage* up about it.

AI seems to be an OK magazine, I found some of the reviews a bit boring and the guide to pistol maintance was laughable. There were a fair few spelling mistakes and I can't really say I liked the quality of the paper (for burning at any rate) but then I didn't pay for my copy so I don't really mind what they put in it.

Would I read it? Yes.

Would I buy it? No
Kosac
Yeah it was an alright magazine. The reviews were ok and in depth and teh artices were informative but the pistol maintanaince was funny and they gave a TM MP5SD6 8/10 so i cant see how they are going to rate the CA or ICS ones properly as there are that much better than TM and did anyone else notice that Airsoft Warehouse basically paid for the issue with thier 20 odd page fold out ad including thier mention of the 'electric test range' what the hell is that anway? and i suppose they put it in the middle so it was easy for me to pull out and throw out of the car window

no offence mate, but the phrase complete and utter numpty comes to mind, cos yes you
can join ascuk, because as you may have noticed, there are a few of us who are members on both forums, what you cant do is link to pages from arnies airsoft, which i agree is very childish, but there are always ways around things if you so desire.

I think what Sledge was getting at is certain people (referred to as "we") who would discuss issues over on ASCUK cant due to, shall we say restrictions on their access to said forums.

Complete and utter numpty eh ? ... sure wink.gif

Actually he can't join ASCUK because he am banzored.

So please find out all the facts before posting otherwise you will look like the numpty.

Really?

Oh.
Duff Beer
Hopefully a mod will come and lock this soon.

Any rivalry between the two forums is daft. I have seen slanging matches between members of both on ASCUK and it got quite distasteful, far past the playful banter of a lighthearted squabble.
I have no issue with any airsofter from any forum. I am a member of UKAN as my team has a forum there. Noone really (and I mean really) cares about who did what to who and why. It seems to be a narrow minded few on both sides who seem to wish for there to be some kind of rivalry between the two in an epic forum war. If they really wanted this sorted they would either all meet up and talk about it like men or sort it on the field like airsofters, none of this mudslinging.
Also, if people continue to make reference to any incident then it is polite to inform everyone about what you are talking about.

Thinking laterally about AI, has anyone seen anything come out of that Airsoft TV show recently? I watched the second episode but have since lost the link and not seen anything about it.
HaVoC
Me neither, I'm not sure if it's still going ahead or what.

There's something on a similar note I could say here, but I won't - it'll remain secret for now. It might not go anywhere, in which case you'll never hear about it. On the other hand, it could rock biggrin.gif

Do you mean Combat TV with the three rather large American guys? If so that finished a while back, or at least those three guys decided to pack it in, and apparently passed it onto another group who wished to take it up, but nothing has come of that.

Cheers
