Q Project Galil: It's old news, but UK 'softers need to know.

Another AK? #2 You wait for ages for an AK varient to come out and then 2 come along at once! Following on from the Beta Spetsnaz, we have another Kalashnikov type AEG, This time a custom job from our friends at Q-Project.

Well, here's a little item that seemed to sneak below our radar, but Q-Project, Redwolfs American other half have only gone and produced a IMI Galil!

The Galil is a 5.56mm Rifle designed and built by IMI in Israel for use by the Israeli Defence Force, in 1971. It, along with the M16 is still used over in the middle east. The rifle itself was also adopted by the South African Armed Forces. Essentially the Galil is an improved AK, in fact, the first production run was produced using recievers bought from Valmet - who themselves make an AK varient! There are several different versions including the ARM, full length version and Sniper versions, However, Q-Project have decided to build the compact/paratrooper version, the Galil SAR Carbine.

Q-Project's little baby, uses a modified AK47 as its base, adding several parts modeled on actual Galil parts, such as the sights and the rear folding stock. Although, this Airsoft version is not exactly the same as the real version, with minor differences apparent, especially in the hand grip.

The Galil SAR from Q-Project costs $800.00

Another AK? #3 However, this is not the only Galil out there! Falcon Toy Company (FTC) also produced a version of the IMI Galil, several years ago, back when gas fed rifles were king!

For those of you that dont know, gas fed rifles worked by using an off board gas tank/supply, that was hooked into the gun by way of a gas line... similar in some ways to a paintball gun.

This version of the Galil is the SAR carbine, and is capable of full auto, 50 round magazines come as standard and the gun comes with a gas remote system.

The FTC Galil SAR carbine currently retails for $185.99. No one really knows how JungleToy were able to source these replicas, but I'm glad they did!
