Steyr AUG SR The TM Steyr Aug military was the first AEG I ever had.
I later owned a SR version as well.
ONe of the real benefits of the AUg is its compactness, for having a comparable size barrel to non-bullpup config AEGs.
BUllpup = Mag is behind trigger system.IE AUG,Famas etc.
You can get fair accuracy while out in the woodlands, and have a compact enough AEG, to really get around that barrier or corner better.
Some of the problems I have encountered though are :
Battery compartment needs some modifications to accept batteries with larger capacities
Its hard to find mag pouches in MOLLE , that properly fit AUG mags
The SR rail system is fine for scopes with mountrings, but the spacing can be a problem with fixed mounts on some optics.
I found it slightly cumbersome to do fast reloads, due to having to tilt the AEG sideways, or grab towards the back of my hand, to get at the mag release mechanism.
I am sure with enough pratice and over time, one can do it quickly, I simply was not able to go as fast as on traditional AEG setups withthe mag infront of the trigger system.
All in all though , it is a great AEG. |
