Positive aspects of the product (pros): Big, Powerful, slide locks back when empty, strippable
Cons: Expensive, heavy, awkward to holster

The Desert Eagle...

Made famous in so many action movies, this huge calibre Magnum pistol has become instantly recognisable thanks to computer games and films alike.

The real Desert Eagle is manufactured by IMI (Israel Military Industries) and is a large calibre Magnum pistol that was originally designed as a hunting pistol. Designed with interchangable length barrels, this pistol is worthy of the title "Hand-Cannon" and is available in a varied range of large calibres ranging from .357 to the huge .50 Action Express rounds.

The KWC replica is an impressive copy of the Desert Eagle, only lacking in weight (900g) whereas the real mcCoy weighs in at over a kilo (unloaded.) Materials are ABS plastic and some metal parts. The ambidextrous safety works just like the real version and locks the gun down with a reassuring "Click". The gun is available in 2 versions - Flat black or black and silver 2 tone. 2 unique things about this springer is the lockable slide (locks back when magazine is empty and upon inserting a fresh magazine, slams forward to chamber the next round) and the adjustable Hop-up wheel which is located at the rear of the front barrel (with the slide locked back) concealed beneath a moveable cover which is pulled back to gain access to the Hop-up wheel.

Power is average ranging from 190-250fps and the pistol has good range (i've hit a man-sized target at around 50feet.) Despite some people saying that a springer is no good in a skirmish, this beast of a handgun is good as a CQB backup weapon (i've personally made multiple kills against enemies equipped with full auto AEG's and the look on their faces when they realise what they've been shot with... Priceless!)

The magazine holds 24 rounds and itself is solidly made of metal, adding a good weight to the gun. The only downside about this pistol, is that most holsters won't fit it as it's too damn large (although the SWAT thigh holsters will accomodate it) and it can be a cumbersome weapon in a smaller persons hands. The gun is also great for field stripping which can be done by accessing the takedown lever on the gun and sliding the barrel and rear slide off in seconds. The Desert Eagle comes with a very handy tube speedloader for loading the magazines quickly and a take-down sheet is included (in English) to allow you to completely strip the gun down to it's basic parts.

Spare magazines are available at retailers and (if you have a little know how) it is possible to "Adapt" one of the KWC Gas Blowback 10" "Cannon" barrels to fit, making it a true Monster pistol...

But that's for another review... Wink

Darklite: Actually, I was using my AK - the shottie I had lent to Tink at that point.

*suitcase*, I best go and check it still works.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): heavy, strudy, reliable.
Cons: heavy (if you have a lot of gear), kindda loud if you want to sneak around at light

well I personally didn't own one but I used it from my friend. He's had this gun (in black)
for he said nearly 3 years and it still worked perfectly, nothing was wrong with it until he sold it to (someone in my family). a month later *someone* had the safety broke (it doesn't click into place). but still a great gun, definatly intimidating and powerful enough to play with our spring rifles (2 mp5a3s and 1 mp5sd3)
