Positive aspects of the product (pros): Metal slide so it can take high presuure gases, powerful, sturdy, cheap as chips.
Cons: Hopup adjustments fiddly, not great with gas efficeincy.

Prior to the Ground Zero weekender, i realised that i would need a new pistol. I had around 85 quid so i wasn't looking for a WA handgun or even a KSC. I surfed around the internet on various sites, but since i didn't have time to order from overseas, i didn't hold to hope that i would find anything i could afford.

I have always likes the aesthetics of the Glock handguns. I like the simplicity of their design and i certainly like the trigger. Anyway, more on the looks of the gun later.

I came to Zeroone airsoft, whom i have always known to be reliable and cheap. They did not dissapoint me. In the GBB section, i found the Kuan Ju Works Glock23 and immediately knew that 'this was the gun for me.' I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the price 65GBP! I immdeiately rang up the shop and got one of these babies(plus a spare magazine) on order for collection at the weekender.

First Impressions: The gun comes in a colourful box with G23 in big letters and a life size picture of the G23. On opesning the box, on sees a beautiful handgun and a black magazine. It also comes with a small box of high quality BB's.

Having picked the gun up, one is immediately hit by its weight. Even without the magazine, this monster wieghs in at 1 Kilogram and you can tell it.

On the left side of the gun, the Glock logo is ingraved on the metal slide. The caliber of the real steel Glock23, '.40 SW' is written further back on the slide. On the otherside, 'Made in Taiwan, Kuan Ju Works' is written in small letters on the main body. In minute letters(so small that i only noticed it upon writing this review), is written 'Gas Blow Back System, Read Manual Before Use.' Fortunately, they have written the stuff you don't want to be noticed very small. The KJ logo is also written on the grip.

Operating the gun: This is pretty much the as other GBB handguns. Pull back the slide, pop in the magazine and its ready to fire.

As I pulled back the slide, i noticed that the slide meets some resistance in the first cm or so. However, after this it slides back very smoothly and sounds chunky and loud. One of the reasons why i prefer this to KSC or TM glocks is that the sound of it being cocked is far superior. It really gives me confidence that i can run into an enemy base and take everyone out(even if i actually get completely nailed)!

One thing that i was warned about was the safety. Most people who buy this gun will wonder for at least a couple of days if the gun even has a safety catch. However KJW have done something very crafty with it. Underneath the barrel, there is a silver serial number. This slides forward to prime the gun and slides back again to make the gun safe. Clever, huh? I like it and it's always fun to try and see if your mates can work out how to get it safe.

Adjusting the hop-up is one of the only negative things i could find about this gun. To do so, you must take off the slide. To do this, you must pull back the slide, while holding down the slide release catch. This is situated underneath the '.40 SW' marking. As the slide comes forward again, the it come clean off. Behind the recoil spring, there is a visible(but only just) little cog. Turning this changes the hop-up but even now, i still find it difficult to work out which way to turn it for a specific result. Ah well, no gun can be perfect. Putting the slide back on is simple. One just slides it into place with the rails on the main body in the grooves of the slide.

The magazine slides into the housing quite easily, although sometimes, i have to push it in quite forcefully in the last inch or so. This however causes no problems.

Performance: Because of the metal slide this gun comes fitted with, this beast will take green gas any day of the year. I generally use ultra when it is a really hot day, but this is just to make sure it lasts for as long as possible.

Using ultra gas, this pistol will consistantly hit 300fps. Although ths box came with a sticker on it saying Zeroone strongly recommend using only HFC 134a, i thought 'pish.' I did however try out 134a and found the results rather dissapointing. This gun just isn't made to take 134a.

In my back garden, i set up a target at about 20feet. The shot from a kneeling position. There wasn't much wind but there was a small breeze which was strong enough to drift shots a little. However, the result was truly excellent. I fird off the whole magazine(21rounds) at the target pausing about a second between each shot. All of my shots went within 3 inches of one another. In fact, most of them were in a 1.5inch group but one or two had strayed. I think that this could have been because of either a strong gust of wind or else, i didn't quite realign the sights.

The blowback on this gun is great. Comparing it with a WA 5" infinity(which uses the Magna blowback system), i felt that it was in fact slightly stronger. The noise is also very satisfying. It gives off a resounding boom. To give you an idea of the noise level, if i hold it next to my ear and fire, it has the same sort of effect as a blank grenade. My hearing goes all funny. I dread to think of the results on my hearing if i had used green gas!

The magazines are about average in efficiency of gas. One fill should last about 2 magazines but sometimes, the gas seems to run out more quickly(ie. half way through the second mag). This is no problem if one has a gas resevoir though.

Upgradability: Although there are hardly any upgrades or accessories made for this gun in particular, this gun will take any accessories for the KJW Glock 27 and also accessories for the KSC glocks. It is hard to say exactly what upgrades made for KSC glocks will be compatible with this gun but silencers, scope rails and flashlights are all possible.

The gun comes with a rail underneath the barrel which can take flashlights or lasers.

Conclusion: This pistol is a good buy. It is one of the more powerful pistols around and for it's size, it is surprisingly accurate. It feels good and for those who like realism, there are not that many things which distinguishes this pistol from the real steel G23. It is sturday and well built. Also, various accessories are available for it.

Definitely a pistol to add to your armoury and what a price! This thoroughly deserves the 9/10 i give it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Weight, looks, price
Cons: Still looking

Looks the part, nice packaging, weight is good, takes Green, It realy is as good as it looks. Got it sat next to my WA M92FS, it's difficult, pick up a WA and just SMELL !!!!!!!!!. Mine still smells proper.

The KJW G23 is an excellent weapon, Metal slide on top of plastic frame, eats Green gas. Sounds great.

At the price, there realy is no better gun. WA may look better, if you got a magnifying glass, but the blowback on Green is ACE. !!!!!!!!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

I said to the gun owner "I don't want a Glock, I'm looking for something different". But how could I resist when he put this into my hand without listning to what I sayed.

All I could do was stand there and hold this cute little black fella in my hand. Then the guy let me fire it. It sounds like, well, like a gbb. But
the blowback is nice, heavy and clanky.
It makes alot of clanking noises. Very fun to pull the slide back and fourth, just listning to it.

I then spat out "Yes !". Before I could think straight, I was stadning at the check out with alot money in my hand. Infront of me lies a vey proffesional gun box.

Once at home, I opened it up and saw the Julia of guns. Lying there with two mags by it. It was like
looking at a hot women, in her finest black lingrie, lying in bed, with two pillows. I must say, this gun rocks.
I have no chrono to meassure the fps, but I can say that it kicks postmans pats arse. The accuracy isn't top noch thou, but no pistol has top noch accuracy really. The hop up adjustment is under the slide, wich has to be removed, before adjustment. But hey, it's better then having to adjust it with a allan screw...

The magazines hold 22 rounds, and are quite heavy. Once you release them from the gun, they are out of there in no time. Allowing quick reloads.

But there are bad things.

The safety catch, it's located under the barrel and consist of a metel bar. You push it back for safe, and foward for "danger". But it's digged into the plastic...You need nails to get the safety on, and to turn it off.

And then there is the slide, you have to cock the gun before the slide can be removed. I'm sure i'lll get used to it, but to remove a block during a fire fight, stress can make you forget this.

I'm very happy with this gun. It's a small little cute thing, but once it's doing bussines, It's doing "BUSSINES" big time.

PS: got an nice shiny box with the deal Nah!

Pros 'n' Cons

+ Clanky slide and blowback
+ Powerful blowback
+ Lovely looking
+ It may be small, but it sure means bussines. Like the dwarf in Me I and Mary.

- That safety can brake a nail or two when trying to make it work.
- It's kinda annoying to have to cock the gun to get the slide off.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Metal slide, good kick with green gas, good accuracy
Cons: Hop-up (more on review), work quality

I bought this gun off my team mate. It hadn't been used for a long period of time, so practically it was a brand new gun.

Upon opening the package and taking the gun into my hand, I noticed the weight caused by the metal parts and the magazine. However, after stripping the gun (very easy, just pull the slide back and press the slide release) I noticed that actually a minimal weight comes from the metal slide and the metal outer barrel, the metal is cheap and light alloy metal.

Next I noticed the low tolerances KJW has on their guns, the slide had wobble to the sides, something many gbb guns don't have.

Loading the magazine up with gas was a pleasant surprise, as the valve prevented gas waste. BB's went inside very well and the spring seems to be of very high quality.

The first shots were phenomenal, with green gas a kick no Marui gbb I have tried can compete with. The BB flew fast - but in the midway of what I'm used to, it fell. The hop-up had no effect at all at ANY point, so stripping we went. It pointed out that the KJW hop unit didn't give enough hop, so I added a rubber buffer between the rubber and the metal (pretty sharp and rubber unhealthy looking metal!) "arm" that pushed the rubber. After the slight modification the gun shot extremely well and accurately.

I wouldn't recommend getting this gun, since there are numerous better guns, although of bigger price too. KJW guns are like the past CA guns, you get a working one and you will be happy, you get a bad one and you will not be so happy even after fixing what you can. I can't be enough optimist to think this gun won't get any more problems.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Solid, powerful, reliable
Cons: Trades

*Note* My G23 is a plastic slided version.

I picked up my KJW G23 from http://www.proairsoft.com some time ago for €100. The metal slided version usually costs around €150 in Finland, but I only had a €100 to burn, and thought I'd give the G23 a shot.
The feel of the G23 in the hand is exceptional. Even with the plastic slide fitted on mine, the weight still comes in at 800g. By comparison a real steel G23 is supposed to weigh in at 880g when fully loaded.
However, performance is where the G23 really shines. The only difference between this and the metal models is the slide, so running it on green gas is amdmittedly a bit riskier, as the slide is more likely to die. However, even on raw propane this gun has survived, and with the the lightness of the plastic slide this gun has a real kick behind it. I only carry this gun as close range backup, though, and with the light slide this gun still performs excellently using HFC134, albiet with a little less range. On HFC134 this gun feels like a normal TM blowback, and while the recoil is noticeably less, it still feels good, with the added bonus that it doesn't feel like the gun is going to explode in your hand (even though it refuses to blow up).
One gripe I do have with this gun is the trades, or lack of to be more precise. The Glock logo on the grip is actually a KJ logo, and the slide is completely bare.
I'm aware that older KJW's had full trades, until the company got into a bit of bother with Glock and immediately stopped using them. If I felt the need to obtain full trades, WGC do stock a replacement frame for $20 that seems to have full trades, and most of the metal slides available seem to have trades. If I get a metal slide, I may get the frame and complete the look.
Overall, I'd say this gun was excellent value for money and has lasted amazingly well. If you used HFC134 exclusively, I could see the G23 lasting for many years.
While the trademarks stop this piece from being a perfect gun, its performance makes up for any shortfalls. I would happily get another G23, and am considering doing so as one retailer I frequently use currently stocks a version that comes in full desert camo colours.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

This is the first review I’ve done, and its my first GBB as well, so it probably isnt very good, but anyway here it is.
Ordering
I had been looking to buy my first gas pistol for a couple of weeks, and only had £100 to buy all the stuff I needed to run and maintain it. So I went on zeroone and found the KJW glock 23, and for £65 it fitted my budget. So I added 5000 black ICS BBs and 2 bottles of ICS green gas with some silicon spray, and the total was £96.93.
I ordered it on Thursday but unfortunately it went out of stock on the same day Sad Anyway they got it back in stock the next day and I had it by Monday afternoon :D
First impressions
The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was just how heavy it was (well compared to my spring pistol, but its all I have to compare it with). With the mag in id say it weighs just a bit less than 1kg, around 700 grams. I won’t go into the looks of the gun to much, as its already been covered in the other reviews, but all the bits of writing you don’t want to see (such as the "gas blow back...") are all in very small type and don’t draw to much attention.
Operation
Loading and firing is just like any other GBB, and has a trigger pull of around 300 grams (with a very satisfying metalicky cha-chink). One slight problem with using it with a standard KJW mag is that you get a spray of liquid gas every time you fire, but this can be fixed by using a TM glock26 advanced mag. To remove the slide you pull down the 2 little switches just above the trigger with the slide pulled back, then you just bring it forwards and the slide comes off. From here you can adjust the hop up by turning the little cog. I’m not sure but I think that turning it away from the recoil spring puts on more hop up, and the other way reduces it. To put the slide back on you just pull down the switches again, and push the slide back on the rails until it’s on fully and then release the switches.
The safety has already been covered, but when the fake id tag thing is pulled towards the front end of the gun you can fire, and when it’s pulled towards the back of the gun its on safe.
Shooting
I don’t have access to a proper crono, but it puts a large dent in a cola can, but doesn’t quite go through (when using green gas at about 25 c). In these conditions I was getting around 50-60 shots from a 4-5 second fill of gas. ROF is quite good and I can empty the whole mag in about 4-5 seconds. The only down part about firing is the reloading, as theirs no catch, so u have to hold the spring down all the time your reloading, but its not a major problem.
Accuracy seemed quite good using ICS black bb’s, at 5 meters I got all the shots within 4 cm of the centre of the target, except one which was 6cm away from the centre.
I also bought a glock 26 advanced mag, as I was told they would work with the G23. The mag holds an extra 5 shots and when using one it reduces the amount of gas/liquid that’s blown out of the gun when it is fired. It also seems to make it slightly more powerful, and as a result probably more accurate. There are also a couple of problems I had with it. It seems to be slightly thicker than the kjw mags and as a result you have to press harder to get it in, and pull harder to get it out. You also have to fill it for longer than a normal g23 mag.
Upgrades
In terms of external upgrades theirs a rail (20mm I think) which means you can add a laser, flashlight, scope rail etc. I haven' seen anything in the way of internal upgrades such as high flow valves, stronger recoil springs etc, but they may be compatible with some parts from other companies (i.e. the mags are almost the same as those of a TM glock 26 advanced (and the 26A mags fit the g23), so high flow valves could be then same).
Conclusion
Good
-Metal slide (sounds great and makes it more durable)
-nice weight (I make it to be around 700 grams with an empty mag)
-good power (on green gas anyway)
-fairly accurate as far as I can tell
-interesting safety (stops my brother firing it lol)
-good gas efficiency (counted 59 shots of a 5 second fill of gas)
Bad
-lack of internal upgrade parts
-slide is perhaps a bit loose and rattles as a result
-no catch to hold the mag spring down
-sprays gas using supplied mag(fixed by using a TM glock 26A mag)
-doesn’t always lock the slide back when the mags empty
-TM mags have to be pushed in harder, and don’t spring out as easily as normal mags
- If you have anything on the rail you cant turn the safety on or off without taking the laser (or whatever) off
All in all I think this is a great gun, especially for the price, and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a cheap, reliable and powerful pistol.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Well built, Metal nicely finished before painting or anodizing, Trigger pull not too light, Accurate, Good power and appears to be quite reliable.
Cons: No trigger safety, but that was resolved by taking those parts from a TM parts gun. I'd prefer no trades to the markings on the frame.

I purchased mine just recently. Having had terrible luck with KSC/KWA Glocks (and no longer use them), I've been using a HFC G17 and a modified TM G26 Advance with very positive results.

I found the KJW G23 to be pretty well put together. Metal parts are finished nicely and there is'nt much in the way of rattle.

Trigger pull is right where I like it. Not too light with little creap before let off.

Accuracy is very good with an excellent number of hits on my usual, hanging gallon milk container target, at 80 feet and still seemed to do ok at 100 after I got the hop-up adjusted.

The pistol shoots pretty flat out to 80+ feet. Power is adequate and maximum range is more than acceptable for your standard pistol.

I've heard some complaints about magazines leaking gas during filling, however, it has been my experience, with the 3 magazines I have for this pistol and the 6 HFC magazines that I have for the G17, that the exact opposite is the case. I find the G23 mags (the box did have a sticker on it that said "new model") to be excellent-with zero gas loss during filling. Go figure.

We still have some cool mornings in the 40's and 50's (F) and I've found the KJW G23 to function without any difficulty in that temperature range so far. Certainly cannot say the same about my KSC/KWA's.

All in all, I found the KJW G23 to be "combat ready" right out of the box. It gets the job done.

My only cons are the absence of the Glock trigger safety and I can perfectly understand it not being there as obviously, KJW doesnt wish to be sued by those dispicable morons at Glock (ya, you heard me-dispicable!). But I wont go there.

I did manage to resolve that issue by using parts from a TM Glock parts gun.

The trades. Personally, I'd prefer none to what is on the frame. Obviously, this is not possible and I'll soon take care of those using my 40 years of model making experience.

All in all, I am really pleased with the KJW G23. Priced right, gives good bang for the buck and performs, in my opinion, better than the higher priced KSC/KWA's that everyone else seems to hung up on.

I located a nice, all metal, threaded barrel recently and will soon be adding that to the pistol.
