When i got a scope for my G36, i decided it was high time to change my facewear. I tried wearing a face mask and trying to adjust my head so i could actually see through the scope but this was very uncomfortable and annoying. I also think that i look like a completely dufus wearing a full face mask.
I surfed around the internet for a while, pondering on the new Guarder glasses when i saw an advert for some Oakley M-Frames on Zeroin. The price at the time was 60 quid so i had some tricky calculating to do. 60 quid is quite expensive for a pair of glasses but fortunately, the next day, they were reduced to 50 so i made my decision and said i would take them. I picked them up from Ground Zero a few days later.
First impressions: the guy i bought them off gave me two boxes. The first on i opened contained the case for the M-Frames. This a great asset to them as the case is very strong and looks quite sleek aswell. However, the other box contained what i really wanted.
The M-Frames came with a fibred and special bag which is supposed to be used to clean the lenses with. I have however lost this bag, to my great dismay.
On picking up the M-Frames, i was surprised at how light they are. My experience of other Oakley glasses is that they are rather heavy but these were not. I suppose this was mainly down to the fact that they are not metal. I am not quite sure what they are made out of but i think it must be an extremely strong plastic. They felt very sturdy, as if they would withstand many a skirmish with no problem.
Looks: As the name suggests, the frame is shaped like a very shallow M. This frame runs along the top of the lenses but not below in a sort of half-jacket fashion. I really like this as it gives them more elegance. On each arm of the glasses, the Oakley's logo is moulded in in silver. Also, across the top of the frames in the centre, Oakley is written as on all Oakley glasses.
The lenses themselves are dark which is great for day use but not so fabulous if the light is fading or obviously, if it is night. However, for night games, i plan at some point on purchasing some NVG's so that isn't a big problem. They are shaped awesomely and the shape of the lenses means that they wrap around your eye quite well to give protection from the sides. (When i say 'lenses', i am not being quite accurate. It is actually one lense that goes across the whole frame).
Performance: They feel very sturdy and the arms are very strong. Obviously, i have not tried to snap them off but they have great resistance to being bent. There is also no chance at all that they will shatter on impact. I have tested them with an upgraded AEG from 5 metres and they didn't even mark!
They are generally quite good at not fogging up. When it is very hot(and i do sweat a lot), they don't exactly mist up but they do get a lot of perspiration on the inside. This can be quite annoying is pretty much the only bad thing about these glasses. However, i plan on getting some anti fog wipes soon so that problem should be solved.
They are very comfortable to wear. I have never felt at all uncomfortable with them on. There is a very soft rubber ring which goes over the nose which ensures the greatest comfort.
Conclusion: These are a very good product. Being very strong and very comfortable, their only weakness is the fogging up. This is not terrible but some anti fog wipes should clear that up. At a retail price of 100 + the case, i would not have bought them if they had not been going cheap. However, they definitely deserve the 8/10 i give them. I was considering 9/10 but i decided that the fogging up just brought them below.
Definitely get these if you have the money!
------------------------------ Don't you just love the fact that my silenced G36 is scoped right in on your right ear? Well, do ya punk?

Oakley do supply replacement lenses for the m-frame, they have now brought out the flak jacket as a replacement to the half jacket and a new m-frame sized product,
When buying look out for whats called, goggle arrays, often you get a clear, light, and dark lens for all conditons!
