Positive aspects of the product (pros): nice default factory parts, bo-mar sights, perfect finish, smooth sliding action.
Cons: not as accurate as 6", front light, hard to fill gas, unique slide proned to damage

*pasted from one of my post*

I am not a review expert but I can tell you my feelings on it.

I got the DK because I was looking for an SCW2 single stacker (why scw2 single stack and not a old or scw single stack? Read all the reviews on snowman's site at www.justpistols.co.uk; single stack scw2 is teh stable fps start to finish) for backup weapon when skirmishing. I fell in love with WA's smooth slide actions.

I was looking for a 5" that's:

1. Easy to carry and holster.
2. Easy to hold.
3. ~15 rounds per charge.
4. a WA that I won't end up blowing another 5 hundred on upgrades.

That pretty much narrowed down to the 1911 series. And I was browsing thru MEU's and such until I clicked on WA's website and noticed the DK with the fancy trigger, and most importantly a BO-MAR.

I am a tweak freak and I know these are toy guns but when I talk about accuracy (both fitting and performance), I need to be able to calibrate the sights up and down, left and right.

The expert 6" with a novak was already good out of the box and all I had to do was up/down. But the 1911's are with the curved upper and dovetail. If it even comes with MMC novak, I don't have much chance to tweak left/right without sacrificing the aesthetics of the dovetail.

I know I would end up getting real woodgrips for a 1911. I would probably get a new CP trigger.. but the DK comes with a custom trigger, and metal (wood patterned) grips already. So I've decided to go for it so that I won't spend a dime on any upgrades.

And that worked so far. The only thing I would like to get for the DK now is a guarder .45 outer barrel for added weight to the front. Which brings us to the performance chapter...

Compared to my 6" grouping of 1 inch @ 14 feet, the DK's grouping for me was 2 inches @ 14 feet. Double taps are still impossible for me on the DK where I am confident to have 1/5 double tap average on the 6". And that's why I want a heavier front.

Another concern is the HW slide. It's beautiful. And I've added a buffer spring so that the slide doesn't catch when the mag's empty. Before the buffer spring, I've managed to make a teeny teeny bulge at the slide stop notch after around 10 mags. Very tiny, as it's not apparent in my gallery, but eventually it'll break and there's no replacement for a nice S&W slide like that.

The sights. Both front sight and bo-mar in the back has NO dots. It's pure black on black. And I don't like that so I've fitted my expert sight on it. (my expert uses fibre sight). Which you can argue I screwed the dovetail idea, but not really as it's dead centered, better than an offsided dovetail anyway.

The mag. It's damn near impossible to fill the mag because the single stack wilson mags has a high base and gas bottles doesn't reach. So I bought a gas fill extension for it. DON'T BUY IT! It doesn't work. It will spill liquid gas on your palms and kill your hands bye bye. I wore gloves doing it and still couldn't fill it.

I ended up drilling that fill hole bigger on my mag base and sprayed it matte black to hide the drilling scratch. And now it's perfect mm mm.

And as always, a yucky hopup assembly on a WA.

The good things:

Nice mag catch texture, stippled.

Kick ass finish on the frame. Completely uniform brushed steel job on a HW material.

Wicked hammer spring assembly that makes changing spring so much easier than SV's. There's no pin.

Solid, no rattling sound.

Long rails for the slide to travel on, it feels exactly as smooth as my FMV expert.

Instead of conventional WA barrel "ball" stabilizer, the DK uses a metal tube like stabilizer that doesn't wear out. My friend who's in love with 1911's envy that.

Lovely factory look that deters you from upgrading like a mad mofo.

As other 1911's, holster perfect on safariland's.

Prices on it still varies in hong kong from $1240 at modern model, to $1320 at UNCo., to $1440 at Den's. I got it from Den's because I was there and the other stores didn't have it yet then.

Should you wait? Well I don't see the price coming down good enough for the wait, unlike LCD monitors. The lowest I think it'll go is around $1150 and even that's unlikely. Judging from the other models as the MEUSOC Kimber's launched earlier. I wouldn't wait 2 months for a $100 hkd difference.

Phew. What a messy review.
