Positive aspects of the product (pros): Solid as a rock, Looks good, Great weight, RIS rails come standard
Cons: no iron sights

I was looking for a nice fullstock shotgun before the UTG came out so my only choices were spend alot of money on a Marui or a Maruzen. Not exactly what I wanted to do. During my search for the best price i stumbled upon the UTG shotgun. It was 40.00 USD and fit the bill exactly.

First Impressions:
The Box that my UTG came in was one of the heavier boxes deliverd to my door, this was a good sign. After unpacking i saw the UTG box and it looked great but I am not buying this for the packaging, am I? . When I opened the box i saw my gun in a neat molded styrofoam "case". This was another good sign because there was no way it could have been damaged in transit. I picked up the gun and was amazed at the weight of it. This monster weighs in at 5 pounds! It is almost 31 inches; that is almost 3 feet! Needless to say this gun is as solid as a rock. The RIS rails are a nice touch so I added a nice reflex sight. I would recommend buying a sight of some sorts as the gun has no iron sights. As elrey summed it up "all you can do is fire from the hip".

Shooting:
After using the included loading rod to load the mags I went outside and shot away. After I ajusted the hop (the little toothed thing on the ejection port)I could hit a basket ball net post from 70 feet! Thats pretty darn good accuaracy on the guns part . I have fired a good few hundred rounds from this gun and it has never jammed once.

Overview:
This is a cracking gun with alot of potential. I whole heartedly recommend this gun to anyone who is looking for a cheap shottie. I give it a 9 out of 10 for lack of iron sights.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): $43, heavy, tough construction, nice pumping action, includes 3 rails and sling, adjustable hopup, slam firing, ability to shoot multiple bb's
Cons: Last 2 shots do not fire, mag fell out after last shot twice, weights can become loose, no sights

This is my first review of any airsoft product. This was my 4th airsoft gun, behind some old cheapo springer S&W 1911, CA M15A4 AEG, and WE Hi Capa 5.1 GBB.

Basically, I had some funds available and was looking to buy a scope and some mags for my M15. I saw an ad for this $40 gun which was supposedly a clone of a $150 shotgun. I thought to myself, there is no way I am spending $150 for a springer but this UTG shottie sounds like a pretty good deal. I did a little research and before I knew it I bought it for $43 shipped.

So the gun arrived a week later and I was pretty excited when I got the box. I opened it up and saw that it came w/ the shottie, two 20rd mags, a sling, an owner's manual, and a bb loading tool. The owner's manual is understandable and I only browsed it to determine how to adjust the hopup. That's right, this bad boy has an adjustable hopup. If I recall correctly, an adjustable hopup is a rarity for any gun below $50, let alone a springer.

After browsing what's in the box, I took the shottie outside of the box, and ho-hum, plastic. Well, by now I've been spoiled by the metal goodness of my M15 and Hi Capa. I reminded myself I only paid $43 for this gun so the plastic I could live with. The quality of the plastic is nothing on par with my M15, but still it seems very durable and looks like it can take a beating.

I slinged the gun w/ the included sling. The sling is of pretty cheap quality (the kind you find on cheap back packs) and might be prone to slippage, but I think if you tapper the ends off with a sewing machine it will be fine.

I loaded 20 bb's into one of the mags with a generic speed loader. I put it into the magwell and noticed it was a pretty tight fit (which is more than I can say about my M15) and required some force to push all the way into the magwell.

I pumped the shottie to load a bb. The pumping action was very easy. This gun includes weights which are glued inside which eventually come loose and rattle after a while. Maybe after I remove the weights I will try the one handed pump like Arnold. But for now, I'm not ready to damage my $43 investment so I can't tell you if the one handed pump is possible.

I took aim at a soda can from about 30 feet away using the top rail as a guide. Yes, this $43 gun includes rails too. Instead of aiming sights, there are three rails attached to the gun, one on the top and one on each side of the gun. The rails are removeable via a screwdriver.

I took a couple of shots and it made nice dents in the can with no penetration. With my AE/ICS MP5A4, bb's can easily penetrate one side of the can and almost penetrate the other side at this distance. I then fired at another can from a couple inches away and saw that it penetrated one side of the can with ease and made a nice dent on the other side. This gun is rated at 280fps with .2g bb's. I do not have a chrono so I can't test it.

Mutliple bb's can be loaded into the chamber and fired simultaneously so I pumped the gun three times to load 3 bb's into the chamber. I fired on the can and saw that the bb's had a reduced velocity. Still, its a nice capability to have, how useful it is is another story.

This gun can also be slam fired, which means that the trigger can be held and it will fire after each successive pump. Another nice capability to have if you need a somewhat faster rate of fire.

I went outside to test the range and hopup of this gun. The hopup can be adjusted via a sliding mechanism located on the right hand side, above the magazine. It has 7 settings and clicks into place when set. I took a couple shots a 5'x5' target about 35 yards away and didn't notice any loss in elevation.

I was able to get 18 total shots off and then the strangest thing happened, the magazine fell out of the magwell. I thought this was odd so I loaded up another magazine and emptied it. The magazine didn't fall out this time so I assumed I didn't push it in deep enough into the magwell before. Still, it fell out another time I emptied a mag. To remove the magazine, there are buttons located on both sides of the magazine which, when pressed, will allow you to remove the magazine from the magwell. I noticed that two bb's were still left in the magazine. It's probably due to a weak spring in the magazine. The last two shots can be fired if you turn the gun upside down and pump it. Strange but at least you will get all shots fired.

To conclude, I think this gun is an excellent buy for the money. You get a durable gun that fires great, has alot of range, includes rails to mount accessories such as scopes and lasers, has decent accuracy, a nice hopup, looks great, and most importantly is only $43. :D

Looks: 10/10, Sawed-off shotgun look is beautiful.
Performance: 8/10, Nice power, has some nice capabilities, the accuracy is not the best but its CQB. Wink
Build quality: 7/10, Plastic with very slight body flex, but durable.
Value for the money: 10/10, $43 for all this? Think of it this way, a single cantilever mount for an aimpoint or a metal flash hider can cost $40 + shipping. Wink

Overall: 8/10 only because it's plastic and I really don't know how upgradeable it is. But why would you want to upgrade a $43 springer anyway? Wink

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Accurate, long range, triple rails, works in all weather, can take a beating and still work
Cons: mags are a bit flimsy and only hold 17-18 rounds, pumping action has to be perfect(no sloppy racking) or else the gun wont fire

The UTG shotgun I own is the SOS shotgun, but I am adding this review to the full stock one as it would be rather pointless to have a separate review if each version is essentially the same.

So first off, the gun has a nice weight to it, looks sexy as hell(you know it does) and none of the pics Ive seen do it justice so far.

The little red cap on the end is annoying and I recommend you chop it off if you live in britain(unless you think that the VCR bill is going to not completely screw us over)

The stock on the SOS version is adjustable and has 6 positions, which is a very nice and useful feature.

The hop up adjustment dial is located where the reciever would be and really helps performance.
By my estimation it was sending .23g bbs out in an almost straight line to 50 metres or more and hitting a tree I was aiming at without using any reticle.

Now you may want to mount a red dot scope on your shotgun, but for those on a budget or who are wearing bulky face masks you can easily nail people by just SWAGing your rounds on to them(SWAG means Scientific Wild Asses Guess)

The range I must say is absolutely astounding on this little shotgun and so is the accuracy.
I can actually compete with some people`s sniper rifles at medium range Smile

The rate of fire is what you make it.
Simple you shoot you cock and repeat till youre empty and taking cover to reload your two mags :D

The shotgun comes with 2 magazines one sling and a speedloader, which is essentially a marui copy but seethrough.
It does its job well and has saved me a few times from certain doom(yes I threw it at the guy attacking me :D)

The shotgun`s build is rather impressive for plastic and has taken quite a beating.
I`ve dropped it muzzle first on to the floor and nothing bad happened(not intentionally of course) it`s also been thrown around a lot and has not even got a scratch(well maybe one)

The only negative aspects that I can think of are the mag capacity(solved by buying more mags), the fact that the last three rounds dont feed properly(although this can be fixed I suppose by
stretching the springs in the mags. and at least with my gun that the pumping action has to be carried out perfectly which can prove difficult under stress but once you get the hang of it its no bother.
The trigger is unfortunately plastic and groans/squeaks when you pull it.
It has a very heavy pull to it and at first I was afraid of breaking it(and no I didnt have the safety on).
The guns safety is a simple button type located within the triggerguard.

So what can I say about this gun?

Buy it.
Simple it will cost you a lot less than any other shotguns of its kind mentioning(hardballers dont count)and its range is superior to the guns it was copied off.
If you want trademarks youre reading the wrong review.
The UTG range of shotguns are skirmishing guns and that is pretty much all I need in airsoft Smile

So as they say its cheep good and beautiful and unlike cheap good beautiful women does not leave you with a nasty rash(well unless you shoot all day and don`t stop).

Positive aspects of the product (pros): affordable, powerful, good range and accuracy, comes with rails attached
Cons: no iron sights

well, I bought this gun about 9 months ago. I sold it a few weeks ago, but I still remember just about everything abouth this gun. This review will be short, sweet, and to the point.

LOOKS AND FEEL

the gun looks pretty good, IMO, with no ugly seam lines and a nice finish. it feels pretty solid and heavy. W/out a sling, you'd probably get tired using this at a skirmish all day unless you're like Arnold Swartzeneger (or however the heck you spell is name).

PERFORMANCE

The performance is incredible for a $40 gun. Mine had an effective range of around 100 ft. 120 ft. max. The accuracy was decent, but hey, remember the price, $40, I'm not gonna complain.
The adjustable hopup is good, it allows you to use a wide range of BB's, from .12s to .25s . but I recommend the .20s, best overall range and accuracy. However, the "20-round" mag only feeds 18 of the 20 BB's.

CONCLUSION

Overall, a great gun, especially for the price. Wish I didn't have to sell it. I definitely recommend this gun. Smile The only thing that stops this gun from getting a 10 is the magazine feeding problem.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Awesome range, pin point accuracy, comfortable (especially for those armalite lovers, yes I know you're reading this) Extremely durable, and beautiful... (and more)
Cons: Hard trigger pull. It also has an armalite stock and pistol grip, so I keep on tryign to use it like one (lol).

I was looking for a SWAT weapon for a team I joined, my CQB operator on the ZZE (my team) created the NST-5. I needed a SWAT weapon (I wasn't going to use my MIL-4, that's for the ZZE), so I went online looking for a weapon, (keep in mind I wanted to get a few other things, and I wanted a nice cheap weapon that was good) I ran into this baby. (I have an M87 SOS= M870 Special Operations Shotgun, which is the callapsable stock version)

This thing shoots nice and hard. I don't have a chrono, so please don't nag me about it, I'm approximating; this thing seems to be shooting a little slower than my Olympic Arms M4, or just about the same speed.

The accuracy is GREAT on this weapon. It fires nice and straight (unless of course it's REALLY windy, or you are using 12s and have the hop up all the way up, or you are holding the weapon other than right side up during firing). I'm so use-to my M4, I can estimate according to where my chin is on the stock and guess where the dot should be from my ML2, and hit a 2 foot diameter tree, from 40 feet (this is an approximation, the tree could be smaller and the range could be farther). I The rails mount 20mm weaver rail mounted accessories

The durability is VERY nice on this weapon. It feels nice and solid. The dube under the barrel is metal; that's right, metal. The stock is nice and solid, the normal UTG armalite stock. The pistol grip is a little smaller than an armalite pistol grip should be.

Packaging, the box has a carrying handle on it, pretty helpful for transportation. It is protected quite effectivly. It came with 2 spare mags, a bb speed loader ( I like them better, they're more practical for field use, in-fact, my support carrys these things.

You get more than your money's worth with this weapon. The only problem, is if you load more than 20 bbs into a mag, you'll have feeding problems. That's the only way I can jam this gun. When firing, MAKE SURE to push the charging handle ALL the way forward. Other wise your round won't get very much range. (warning, the last 2 bbs will not feed, flip upside down while cocking, as if using an inverted gravity feed system)

This is weapon a nice one, it's WELL worth the $35.00 I paid for it. This thing is more than I expected!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WEAPON.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

I got the pistol grip version, but for the most part its the same as the full stock. Just to let you know i will be comparing it to the uhc mp5. so I got the package and was impressed by the box. since, on the uhc one you just pull the top off, with this ome they had all the little flaps ect, they even had the nice little handle. Sorry, moving on to better things.

The gun had a nice weight to it, but it still felt kind-of plasticky, but i don't mean like those cheap springer wanabe guns. So out of the box it felt pretty good, unfortunatly there is a loose pice of plastic on my grip, and I assure you it isen't the weight ratteling around.

Now the test fireing. I have never used a gun that shot over 250 or so, and not having a chronograph, and to lazy to use the pop can methoed I am only usuming this. Any way it shot nice at least 90+ feet, and all you really have to do is buy a cheap red dot, but with out sights it really insn't half bad, so compared to my mp5 this isn't a half bad gun.

Oh and no matter what any one else says the little mettal pices that the foregrip uses to push the spring back is mettal, ALONG with the tube the the forgripe is on.

Now the mags, which every one seems to slightly dislike. If you ask me the low caps seem fine, its the hicaps. First if you have a full stock and you have a hicap in you have to wind forward, thus you need really long arms, or you have to un-sholder the rifle. Also the hicaps are a pain to get in the gun, I just put it in as far as it would go, and then give it a good, or firm push.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Low price $32-$40, RIS system for accessories, Solid Feel, High FPS for a springer
Cons: No Iron Sights, 2-3 bbs left in mag after mag is emptied

There are three versions of the UTG 870 Shotgun. Reviewed here is the full stock version. Other versions are the Pistol Grip and the CQB model. All use the exact same internals and all come with external rails, 2 mags, and a sling. The CQB also comes with a pair of shooters glasses.

I purchased the UTG 870 Shotgun primarily because my little brother-in-law was interested in Airsoft and I needed a lower power springer. Using my 400fps AEG didn't seem fair or safe. He had a arsenal of springer already but I needed an excuse to get the UTG Shotgun.

For the money there is not a better shotgun (or any springer for that mater) out there. The shotgun and has a black front hand guard, black pistol grip, and tri-rail scope mount base. The built in rails makes adding accessories a snap. A scope or sight is needed as it has no iron sights. Rugged construction give the gun an appreciable weight and great feel, coming in at around 4 pounds. The pump action is extremely smooth. It has a satisfying "CLICK" when cocked but not quite a shotguns "Ca-Chunk!"

Much like the first Maruzen CQB shotgun, the CAC-15800 is short and sweet. It replicates the pump action CQB shotguns favored by the US military and national police/security departments. It has the same extended combat magazine (which holds 7 to 8 shells in it's real steel counterpart), matte black non-glare finish, and rail mount for accessories, and a pistol grip for greater comfort (and control). As the rail is industry standard - you could easily attach scopes, flashlights, laser, etc. As with the first Maruzen CQB shotgun, rate of fire is one BB per pump. The magazine holds 20 BB's and the gun comes with 2 magazines.

I ordered an extra mag not realizing that it comes with 2 already. Ordering one more actually brought another set. So I had 4 mags. Far more then I thought I would ever need for what I thought would only be used in my fenced backyard springer wars. After playing with this gun I quickly realized that it would see far more action then that of my backyard alone. Besides the 20 or so springer games I have used it in 6 pistol/springer only games where others where using GBB's. I was far from outclassed. It is a fun shooter and worth every penny.

A couple of undocumented features to this shotgun are its ability to load three bbs and fire them all at once. doing so greatly reduces the power of the shot and reduces the effective range to less then 30 feet from around 80 feet. You can also hold down the trigger and pump it as fast as possible and with each pump it fires off a round. No need to time the pump and fire. This makes rapid fire possible and doing so I can empty a 20 round mag in under 5 seconds. Good thing it comes with an extra mag.

the only things I see as negatives on the gun are. Lack of iron sights, and 2-3 bbs left in each mag once the mag is emptied.

UTG have outdone themselves with this shotgun series. This makes a great inexpensive backup that is a blast to shoot and comes with a few extras to round out the deal.
