Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
Good fit, with o-ring grooves for possible stabilizer installation, nice crowning and chamfer on the tip.
|
|
Cons:
|
On the soft side, user crowning could destroy the barrel.

KM aka Head1950, along with Systema and Prometheus all make accuracy barrels with AEG's. KM being a little special in that they coat their barrels with teflon with should smooth the bb's travel within the barrel.
This coating is visible on both the inside and the outside. IMHO, the performance of such a coating is undetectable to the user in the field but it certainly made me feel good about myself. So that's a plus
The barrels are easy to fit with spot-on grooves for sliding in the hop-up bucking and also groves on the muzzle side for either fitting o-rings to further stabilize any barrel wobble, or use it as a guide to cut the barrel shorter.
The crowning at the muzzle is also different from Systema's and Prometheus' because the slope is more shallow and extend into the inner surface deeper. I think this makes a difference in a lower FPS for KM vs. Systema (like 1 fps lower lol) while it ensures the bb leave the muzzle untouched. As explained below, don't even try crowning that at home.
The muzzle is also chamfered nicely for easy insertion when upgrading.
The upgrade does make a difference. It lowered my 1J grouping at 14 feet from 2cm's to 1cm. And at this range I've also had grouping of 8mm with 10 shots (1 hole weeeee).
It didn't score a ten because of the tech bit below (hard to work material).

If you ever decide to cut your barrel shorter, use a pipe cutter. After cutting you will see that the KM barrels are actually multi-layered. The silver coating sandwiches a layer of brass which made the cutting easy as brass is soft. However, you MUST crown the muzzle for proper use due to the tolerance on our bb's, some bb might be caught at your cutting imperfections.
When crowning, instead of sticking your grind stone into your drill, stick the barrel into the drill with a small piece of rubber band wrapped around the clamp end as buffer (so the clamp doesn't scratch the barrel), and hold the grinding stone instead. Or else you'd never be able to crown it with a consistent slope. And remember to RUN the whole process in cold tap water or the muzzle will expand due to heat and you can't insert it into the gun.
***end***
