Positive aspects of the product (pros): Best ghillie ever? lightweight, not too hot, cheap
Cons: takes time to fill with foliage. Otherwise perfect

Well, I am a sneaky Airsoft HUNTER by trade and have had ghillie suits since 1991. However I have always made my own and only this year considered buying one. The price of many put me off. The appeal was a mesh suit that would be lightweight and not too hot. I have used MESH face veils for years and know how good this stuff is for Airsoft.

Luckily I held off until I saw this product advertised in a magzine someone showed me. Called a concealment vest, this product had a misleading photograph, with the vest not on a model just loose.

Yet Several things made me buy it........ strong mesh construction, brand name, amount of elastic loops that cover it.

It arrived the morning that I set off for a 5 day Airsoft Sniper School. I was impressed by it's lightweight considering it covers a massive percentage of your body. The stuff sack is great and makes transportation easy.

The cloak is easy to put on and has a belt that fastens with a plastic fastex buckle. The belt is adjustable for all sizes. 2 other buckles come across the upper torso and their webbing straps are adjustable too. The hood can be lowered or raised up easily and has a series of elastic loops around the brim. A drawstring can be used to fasten the hood, but I did not bother. I used a cap underneath to keep the hood out of my vision and this worked well and I felt comfortable.

We trialled the ghillie next to an Advantage type suit. The local cam took a fair while to pack in as you need plenty to get a real good effect I nvested a whole 20 minutes to get this effect. Be sure to put the foliage in so that it looks like it is growing upwards. Their was no comparison as any ghillie suit needs local cam to be most effective and yet many mesh ghillies have no loops to attach local foliage. Something you have to sew on yourself normally.

Also put a mix of foliage onto the cloak, otherwise you can just stick out as being a solid lump or bush (pardon my name). Grass is just as good as ferns.

If you stick to the areas that have the foliage you are wearing it works oh so well. If you enter a new type of terrain you will need to change the foliage. This is a pain by yourself, as you must take it off and lay it out to do it. Far better to work as a sniper team and adjust the other snipers suit.

The pictures above are from this SNIPER SCHOOL event.

The suit put fear into opponents that I would be invisible. However, you must remember that it only works if you keep still. Any movement wil draw the eye. My first game with the WEB TEX concealment vest proved to be great, being the highest scorer and remaining the only sniper not to be shot.

I was only seen once, the opposing spotter shot at me with a shotgun twice while I was running and then when I stopped, he said I dissappeared. Then he got shot by both me and my partner (whose homemade ghillie is covered in elastic loops).

LOL!

I managed to move quickly at times during the day and yet did not get too hot. I climbed a tree 30m from opponents in it no problem and they were unaware of me. I managed to crawl close enough to someone to shoot them with a pistol wearing it. The lack of cover on the front allows easy crawling and stalking. I also wore a SAAV underneath it with no problem, which allowed me to carry everything I needed. It did not restrict my movement in any way.

I rate this ghillie suit as the BEST I HAVE SEEN for Airsoft purposes. The chance for heat to escape is great and if it gets wet then it will not soak up water like most conventional suits.

I don't know how it will fair in winter though. But if you want inspiration for how well a cloak style ghillie can work; then look at ENEMY AT THE GATES. Vassilli uses a cape.

For the CHEAPEST ghillie item, it is the BEST in my eyes. You just have to be honest if you local cam is HIT by BB's. It has got to count as a hit otherwise this suit will become unpopular with players and more like body armour for softers.

Airsofters hate ghillied snipers that cheat, so be ultra sure to call hits.

All snipers will soon own one of these (if they know what is good for them) and it will become the standard of concealment...
