VERY reliable, metal top-slide, very cheap, many different magazines available, replacement and upgrade parts available, integrated RIS rail
|
|
Cons:
|
Plastic mag-latch can wear out over time with excessive use

I bought my first KWA Glock 19 over a year ago because it was so cheap. I bought my second KWA G19 because I so loved the first one and wanted to dual-gun. I bought my third KWA Glock 19 because... ...well, I didn't really have a reason - I just wanted another one
The Gun
This gun has a metal top-slide with full trademarks printed on the sides in white. The outer and inner barrels are also metal. The slide-release latch is metal, and the frame, trigger and mag-latch are ABS plastic.
On first picking up this gun, you will notice the weight. Without the magazine it is nothing too special, but with the magazine inserted the weight is just right - very similar to the real-steel version.
The sights have white dots painted on them to help acquire targets quickly and accurately, and everything is dimensionally almost identical to the real-steel model. So much so that all accessories, holsters and external add-ons designed for the real gun will fit this one.
The trigger has the patented Glock safety mechanism using an inner trigger to ensure that the gun cannot fire without the trigger being actuated properly. On this Airsoft model, this safety mechanism is not 100% reliable, but does help to reduce the possibility of accidental discharge when holstering the pistol.
The entire gun fits in the hand very comfortably and it is a pleasure to use both when skirmishing and plinking.
The HOP-UP is easily adjustable without stripping down the gun, although you do need to use the 'key' that is included with the gun. The HOP-UP can be set very accurately and stays where you set it without feeling the need to budge by itself.
The gun strips down VERY easily. Just cock the gun and pull down the two forward tabs on each side of the frame. The slide just slides off and all of the internal components are then accessible.
Firing
Fill up the magazine with 0.20g BBs and Green Gas, lock back the slide, insert the magazine, drop the slide and you're ready to go.
There are no external safety catches on this gun, so just aim it and pull the trigger. The recoil is clean and crisp. Accompanying each shot is a nice metalic click-clack as the slide racks back and forth automatically.
The recoil is better than average, and shot power is excellent. I get just over 300fps out of mine consistantly. The bang from this gun is average, but this makes for much better gas consumption figures.
This gun is accurate enough for skirmishing in most conditions, although I wouldn't say that this pistol was a record-breaker. It certainly does me proud though.
This gun runs on Green Gas with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It is the only gas I use in all my pistols and while some start to break down after a while, this one just keeps on going.
Accessories
There are quite a few accessories available for this gun. The fact that there is a RIS rail on the front means that most RIS compatible devices can fit instantly.
As the Glock is such a popular gun and this Airsoft model almost exactly matches the real-steel gun externally, the plethora of professional holsters that are available will fit this gun. This makes this gun a very easy to carry skirmish sidearm in the holster of your choice.
More importantly though, there are several different sizes of magazine that fit in this gun. Any KSC or KWA Glock magazine will fit. The Glock 19 or 23f magazines fit flush, exactly as the one that came with the gun does. Also available are Glock 17 magazines which hold a few more shots and extend slightly from the bottom of the grip. Best of all though are the 50 shot magazines which extend noticably from the bottom of the gun, but provide a lot of BBs and a vast increase in output power. These are highly recommended.
Upgrades
Upgrade parts are available for this gun, but there really is no need. It is utterly reliable and performs brilliantly out of the box. There are two upgrades I can understand people doing though.
1. The Mag-latch
The mag-latch on this gun is made from plastic. If you use the 50-round magazine often enough, your mag-latch can warp slightly, causing a gap to appear between the top of the mag and the underside of the blowback chamber. This causes a slight amount of gas venting per shot which leads to fewer shots per mag being possible. Metal mag-latches are cheap and easily available, and fix this problem instantly and forever.
2. The Recoil-Spring
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the recoil spring installed on these guns, but if you want a more definite feel to the action of the slide, an enhanced recoil spring can help. The spring and guide rod will usually cost you less than £10 (about £3 if you order from Hong Kong), so they are a cheap and fun upgrade.
Other available upgrade parts include rocket valves, alternative metal slides, threaded barrels, tighter inner barrels, stronger hammer springs, hi-flow valves, and more. The choice is endless, but there is little cause to feel an upgrade is actually a necessity unless you actually experience a rare breakage
Conclusion
This gun is EXCELLENT. Everything about it is good.
It is utterly reliable, a good performer, consistantly one of the cheapest GBB pistols you can get, easily available, has a wide choice of magazines, has a load of accessories and upgrades available, runs on Green Gas, etc, etc, etc...
It is great for plinking as it is fun to shoot, but it makes a great skirmish gun. My oldest gun has accompanied me on every skirmish I have attended, and it has absorbed some punishment and come out smiling. It has been submerged in muddly water, it has collected long grass inside the slide, it has been coated in fresh mud, it has been dropped on concrete and it has been trodden on several times. It still keeps working reliably (although the finish is a little tattered after all this abuse). It has NEVER failed or jammed even once.
It may not be the loudest or the hardest kicking pistol out there, but it does what it does perfectly and I would never change that. If only every GBB was made to such exacting standards of quality.
This gun gets a perfect score of 10 out of 10 from me, and the patented "R22Master Seal of Approval".
If you don't already have one, buy one

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
Cheap, powerful, accurate, compact, metal slide, green gas, would go 15 rounds with tyson
|
|
Cons:
|
Cheap, long term unrealiability, rattles, lacks quality/detail, no safety catch
|
|
Please note: This is just 1 review and the opinions/views come from personal experiences.
First Impressions:
I bought the pistol from AA, after searching the web for the cheapest GBB I could find in the UK. It came in a polystyrene box, with a red back ground and the picture of the 'G19' on the front of the lid. On opening the lid, i was greeted with a black, decsent looking pistol under an air tight transparent plastic seal. The gun also comes with a hop up adjuster, loading tool and KSC Glock 17 manual, and a G19 flyer inside (all in japanses, so it didn't really matter).
Appearance/Build Quality:
The glock 19 has a plastic lower frame and a metal slide. The plastic frame: This makes up the pistol grip, trigger, trigger guard, magazine release catch and rail. The plastic itself is neat quality, very shiny and a dull (none shiny) black. I find the pistol grip firm and the grips texture creates a secure hold. This might differ for those with soft and smaller hands (i have quite big hands and yet the g19 doesn't feel tiny). The rail frame works well, and a torch attaches securely, no falling off as you point it into a smoke filled bunker/room. Under the railing is a metal strip with the wording 'COP471US'. (Common on KWA Weapons).
The metal slide: The slide is painted black and made of a relativly cheap but workable metal. It also has the white engravements 'Glock 19 AUSTRIA 9x 19'. The engraving isn't particularly deep but is more detailed than other guns where the engravemtns are just uncoloured on the plastic background (KWA USP, KSC M11A1). Other metal parts include the barrel, slide release catch, internals and magazine.
Firing/ Operating:
Loading the magazine is simple, just remove the plate at the bottom of the magazine (nice touch, covering the gas port prevents dirt/damage etc) and feed the gas in. Then pull the the spring down till it locks and then feed bb's in from top by hand (the loading tools causing jams and is slower). Once the mag is full, release the spring follower, slide the mag into the pistol grip and cock with a simple pull back of the slide, allowing it to move forward by itself. Take aim and squeeze the trigger, 'Bam'. the blow back is quite impressive for such a small gun, but of course doesn't match with the likes of upgrades, and WA's etc. With green gas, i get over 290 fps from it, and a definate kill at targets within 15-20 metres (providing you are not blind).
Field Firing:
My weapons are used for the sole purpose of gaming. Therefore my Glock 19 is used as my side arm for when my primary AEG empties or room clearing. Either way the high power and accuracy has left many a sting (and a few bruises) on my opponants.
Final Notes:
I have had this pistol just over a year and in that year, it has certainly been through the wars. During a winter game (about four months after purchase), the hammer cracked and it vented gas (for an unknown reason). With free warranty repairs, i had it fixed and the Glock has fired ever since. Ive fired over a thousand bb's through it (considering its only used in 'emergencies'). I've dropped it on kitchen tiles, pavement, tarmac, frozen mud and solid steel (bluddy holster, oh and slippery hands). The finish and paint on the slide is begining to show the results and the foresight has chipped but still it fires. I even dropped it during a recent night game, where over night the heavens opened. On recovering it the next morning, the gun was drentched, and the slide release catch was rusty. I took it home, into the heat and let it dry out, with a fresh refill of gas, i expected the worst but 'Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam....'the thing came back for more, emptying the magazine of ammo in no time.
However, a year of gaming and 'abuse' has had affectes on the gun. The slide stickes when cocking, there's no speed in it's movemnt forward from a pull back and cupping the bottom of th magazine (with two handed firing) whilst firing prevents the slide from cycling all the way forward. That said, and even though the pistol has more rattles than a pocket of change, it still works.
Conclusion: If you are still awake at this stage, i would just like to say: The Glock 19 (like real steal glocks) will take a hell of a beating before it gives up the ghost. It won't leave you bank rupt paying for it and it will take down down most of your opponants within a 20 metre range with ease. First impressions give you an excellent, realistic looking and crackingly powerful gun, that plus the high accuracy leaves you with a pretty nifty machine in your hands. However, any serious skirmishers who want long term realiability (16 months +) won't find it here. Although mine still works, I have little faith in it that it will get me out of a sticky situation anymore (slide and blowback don't fucntion well). Overall i feel that if you want/need an affordable, nice looking hand gun, thats gonna survive a nuclear winter, then the KWA Glock 19 is for you. You could purchase dual Glock 19's for the price of DE or 92fs. But if high quality detail and longterm reliability is required, pay more and get something 'better'.
Even with a replacement, i'd never get rid of this beauty.

Metal slide, cheap price
|
|
Cons:

Common
|
|
Purchased my G19 from AA back in January 05. Main reason was I wanted a gun with a metal slide so I could run green gas, without paying through the nose to convert one.
The Gun
The main thing you notice about this gun when you touch it is the cold to the touch metal slide, the main reason why I brought this gun. Fair enough it is common, but then that must be for a reason. If it wasnt very good no one would buy it. Whilst the slide and mag release are suitable, with gloves on they can be a bit fidly, but GLoack have actually released extended versions of both of these although they are hard to come by.
One thing I have noticed about the rear sight is that it is not very securely fixed and I have had to add a dab og glue to make sure I dont lose it.
One benifit of this model over other guns is the accuratly sized rail, which takes my accessories very snuggly, as apposed to my HFC M190.
I have noticed on one G19 that the HOP was jammed and managed to break the key. I think this is just an isolated problem as I havent seen it mentioned anywhere else. I myself havent played around with mine too much as to me its a backup and I concentrate more on setting up my primary first.
One thing to be careful when stripping and reassembling the gun is to make sure the spring guide on the slide is located properly other wise you will find the slide doesnt locate properly.
Firing
There is nothing quite like the sound of racking a metal slide. You will never want another plastic slide again!
By having no external safety or hammer, it never snags on the holster, the benifits of a steamline design.
I have cronoed mine at 300 - 3005 fps which I think is great for a standard gun on green gas. Having a drop leg holster and crawling around a bit means this gun does get wet and muddy as well as fired in these conditions and it never complains.
Accessories
Due to the fact the Glock is so common, I wanted to get some bits for mine that would not only change the look, but also improve the gun. A magwell was the first addition to aid fast loading in the field, along with a Recoil Control Thumb Rest which protects the thumb from the slide and helps to control the recoil. It also stops the slide from snaging on gloves. My other purchase was a Streamlight M6, whuich fits great and is probably my most useful item, especially for CQB when dark.
At this time I am still trying to get the extended mag and slide releases to complete my G19.

Looks (scroll down for my solution)

Wow! What can I say, this thing is great!
For a while, I had been strongly against glocks, purely for the look of it. Yet, when I saw the lucious glocks owned by Vicious V, I just had to have one! So, seeing as my local shop had notified me on the fact that they would soon be complete with adding in a CQB arena, I was on the bandwagon!
So I went to shortyusa.com(excellent service by the way!) and chose to buy it there due to the fact that everything from shorty's always comes the next day after being shipped! I wanted my glock now!
When it came, I had a huge smile on my face. I opened the box and there it was. I slowly lifted the thing out, and held it in my hands for what seemed like hours (probably was a couple of minutes or so though...). Eventually, I geared up by putting some gas in the magazine, and off I went with it loaded to the max with .2s! I then loaded the magazine into the gun, and cocked the full metal slide. With a clang, the satisfaction surged through my body.
I went outside, set up cans about 10-15m away, and unloaded! Wow, does this feel good! Each shot gives a nice, crisp blowback, along with a beautiful sound. The gun easily penetrated the cans in one side and sort of dented the other. The accuracy was top notch, that is after adjusting the hopup.
The hopup is easy to tune, just use the included tool and lock the slide. Then, align the key within the gun's barrel, and turn right for more hop, left for less. The bbs were flying on a straight path for a good range.
Well now to sum up, here we go:
Pros:
Efficient (cost and power!)
Customizable
Practical (comfort)
Cons:
Absent trademarks
No safety
Guide to making that glock look better:
Accessories:
I personally enjoy a good silencer on my handguns. I bought a PE threaded barrel (the only one you should get! http://poweredgeusa.com/product.asp?ID=2458) along with a silencer which was too heavy, but I will be looking for a lighter one. In nay case, the silencer adds a lot of good looks and makes the gun look more intimidating, as well as actually silencing the gun a bit.
You should also get yourself a flahslight, the gun really looks nice with one and it helps in low-light situations!
Get a stronger recoil spring if you are not satisfied with your present recoil. It will also increase your FPS by 5-10 or so. For about 17 USD and with easy installation, it's worth it.
Note: Your gas consumption will be increased due to the fact that the slide is open longer during a shot, even though the slide comes back more quickly.
I also love the fact that glocks can have silver slides. Yet, I wasn't too excited about buying a hard to find one new for 95 to over 100 USD. So, I said what the hell, and sanded the whole metal slide down. For this you should use:
Fine grit sanding sponge
1000 grit waterproof sanding paper
Wet sanding is key. It easily removes the paint. Just follow this guide and you will be on your way to a beautiful silver slide:
1) Wet sanding sponge with warm water
2) Remove all parts from the slide (front sight, rear sight, blowback mechanism, recoil spring, barrel, inner barrel)
3) Sand slide down until your happy with the tone. If you like, keep any part of the slide black to have a two-tone!
4) Optional* Sand down outer barrel until preferred color is found.
5) Sand down with 1000 grit waterproof sandpaper
6)Reattach bits and pieces
Now you have a silver slide, ta-da! Be wary though, the sanding took about 1 hour to finish. Be sure to work in a clean area.
I will be sure to add new information once I have a firsthand experience in the CQB arena, and I obtain a proper silencer. Hope you enjoyed my first review!
