Right I’m going base this off the excellent Flecktarn review by MDK_Marshal I will also be mainly looking at the re-enactment side of the store (as that’s what I bought) but think most things such as service can apply to all of their stuff.
Product range
If your after a look anywhere from ww2 up to today or even law enforcement to a re-enactment standard I would advice this as your first stop. Looking over to the excellent catalogue that came with my order they have British, American and German WW2 era, Vietnam, Modern US and Tactical all top notch stuff. This covers almost everything you could think of (…and some stuff you don’t) from head to toe with hats, helmets, clothing, webbing, boots …everything.
Prices
Some of the re-enactment clothing may be more expensive than your average dpm’s or flecktarn but for accuracy and the look I would say this stuff is very much worth it. The prices in my opinion are spot on though. For the more modern clothing or basic things you can find more easily (like the American basic woodlands) some may find buying from Flecktarn or elsewhere a little cheaper but for the older era looks this is the best place I’ve seen.
Delivery, Sales and Customer Service
I placed the order late on the Wednesday so they didn’t receive it till Thursday.
There delivery services are…
Order under £30 and weighing less than 1kg £2.99
Orders over £30 or 1kg £6.50
Next Day Delivery £7.50
My order was over £30 pound but opted to pay the extra pound for next day delivery. On the Thursday when they received the order it turned out they where out of stock on a Woodland butt pack now normally or on most occasions when something is out of stock, shops have e-mailed me even if I sent my phone number. Soldier of Fortune phoned me!!! They explained fully that they where out of woodland butt packs and where getting them in on the Friday being able to send it to arrive on the Monday. Talking over the phone was quicker and a lot easier to sort it out instead of email back and forth which in other situations has meant it takes even longer. In the end I swapped the Woodland one for an olive green that was in stock. So the next day I waited, past 1pm and onto 2pm starting to worry that changing the order fudged things up then *ding dong* the delivery lady came to the door soaking wet (it had been raining) and handed me the package and one of those electric things to sign….
The Goods
Now I had a tiny worry not knowing everything about this company and thought that the goods would either be used surplus that smelt bad and was manky or brand new, bad imitation stuff. On opening the packaging I found the best of both worlds the look and quality of real stuff and the fact it was nice, new and didn’t smell. Its top notch and would say on par with gear I have bought from flecktarn.
Overall
For people going for a look or trying to be authentic maybe ww2 with a Thompson/M1/Kar98/mp40 or Vietnam with Thompson/M16/M14/m60/AK yada yada yada or even closer to today with swat, US marines or American infantry this is a great place to look. I’m going to give this a 10 based mainly on its great customer services and excellent range of gear. If you are looking for more modern look or just regular old fleck/dpm or more regular stuff I might say go to flecktarn, they are brilliant and have good prices on all their stuff. But again if you want a re-enactment class look this place is well worth a peak at.------------------------------
