Weaker than stock spring !

So...
I purchased this spring whilst buying some other parts from X Fire, having just purchased a SD metal slide. I thought with the extra weight, it would be nice to add a little compensation to the kick of my Hi Capa. Reading the description it sounded like this would be ideal - not extreme recoil, but an improvement, and the price was excellent.
So far i have not really had any negative experiences with PDI products. They are usually to me well made and well finished. Sadly, this was not the case with this spring.Upon opening the packaging (Which is always quite nice with PDI items)i noticed immediately that the spring felt quite thin, definitely less beefy than the stock recoil spring. This at first made me think that i had already made a mistake, though looking at the spring itself, it did appear tighter coiled than the stock spring. With that i thought what the hell to it anyway, so it was fitted into place for the obligatory testing.
Immediately i noticed that the slide didnt cycle as well by hand when compared to the stock spring. Although it is fair to say the hi capa slide isnt the smoothest, even with manual cycling it can usually return to battery. However it wasnt the case with the PDI spring. This in itself was slightly concerning, but i discounted it and fired a few test shots. Recoil definitely wasnt improved like i had expected, being reduced quite noticably. The slide still cycled i might add, but at a slower rate.
I wont waste anymore time other than to say that i would not recommend this spring, as there are plenty of options out there which are likely to be better.PDI themselves have a "harder than hard kick" variable pitch spring listed too, which might well be a lot better, but for the time being i will be steering clear of them.
Perhaps good for a spare in the near impossible event of the stock one breaking, but otherwise save the pennys !
