Pros: Cheap, makes mag changes faster, looks great
Cons: Has some design flaws

Ok so my vest is all full of MP5 mags and I need some more places to put them, being a good scout I believe that it is better to have and not need, than to need and not have, especially true when your being shot at. So I tend to carry way to many mags. I also like to play as close to ‘reality’ as possible (which means using low-caps), I like the feeling of having to perform a mag change under fire, I also like the idea of my enemies having to do the same! So when I play CQB I carry no less than 12 mags!

I was in HK looking around and buying a bunch of stuff when I saw this particular version of a thigh mount triple mag pouch, it was a while back so I don’t recall how much I actually paid for it but I know you can get ‘em for around US$30. The Mil Force was the only one the shop had and it was a “oh I need this too!” sort of purchase. This was my first Mil Force purchase and I have never used or owned a thigh mount pouch/product prior to this.

So I get home and take a good look at it to find that it is quite well made or at least looks pretty good, I strap it to my belt then realize the first problem: the thigh straps are loops meaning there are no clips, meaning I have to thread my leg through them or undo them completely – how stupid. I mean I know Mil Force don’t exactly make the best gear but hell a couple of clips wouldn’t have made much of a difference in price and would have made the thing at least easy to get on! So the answer you ask? Well I went to my local plastic clip shop and bought a couple of their finest, cut the straps sewed ‘em in and voila problem solved! But my point is: why the hell should I have to do something Mil Force could have easily done in the first place?

So now I have the thing strapped to my leg and I notice the second problem: the leg straps don’t have the rubber weave that I have come to love in them – this means that the straps are 100% Nylon and that makes for some slippery strap action! So you find your self constantly pulling the straps up your thigh so that the leg rig doesn’t pull your belt and pants down.

Putting a mag into these rigs is easy, the flap/lid is secured close by Velcro (hook &loop for you Americans) and each pouch is tapered so that stowing a mag while not looking is quite easy. Each pouch is individual and fits MP5 mags perfectly, you can fit other mags in these such as M11 but they don’t fit as well and tend to be too long. Each pouch has a plastic clip and Velcro adjustment for fit but the adjustment is so short that it is useless. It think that Mil Force put these here to look good rather than for function and I would have much rather seen them use rubberized strapping and 2 clips on the thigh straps instead.

Ok so your thinking that this leg rig sucks, well no it doesn’t. I mean for a new player this thing will serve you well (after an alteration or two), and it is cheap. I have found that the leg rigs in general are great, they give you more equipment carrying capability and the equipment is right at your side in an easy to reach place. I have used this Mil Force rig on many a CQB occasion, changing mags under fire and in very dark conditions, it works beut. For more seasoned/serious players I would recommend a modular setup that allows you to completely customize your field equipment, these do however cost a heap more (US$30 vs. US$50).
