First Impressions:

The box the AIM AM4 A1 comes in is very nice looking, in the middle of the box is the name AM4 A1

On my initial inspection of the AM4 A1 I found no trademarks as such

The only one that I found was on the outer barrel that says 5.56 NATO 1/7.

The AM4 A1 has several nice features such as the detachable carry handle with the weaver mount underneath and the four position retractable stock.

The other features the AM4 A1 has is the charging handle, the forward assist knob, and the bolt release.

While the charging handle is used to uncover the Hop-Up mechanism inside the bolt, the forward assist knob and the bolt release are purely for looks and serve no real purpose other than to make the AIM AM4 A1 look more like its real steel counterpart.

Performance:

Our initial tests found the samples we have is shooting a little hot compared to the Marui ver

We shot around a mags worth of shots from these samples and the average fps is around 330 to 340

The AM4 A1 was more accurate than I expected, from about 60 feet away firing in semi auto mode I consistently got about 3 inch groupings.

In full auto mode I got about 4 inch groupings.

The only problem I've encountered was, occasionally while firing in semi auto mode the trigger somehow gets stuck like if it was in safe mode, but the problem is easily fixed by flipping the selector switch over to full auto mode and firing off a few rounds.

The above problem is encountered across all models and makes as we all know

Conclusion:

Positive aspects of the product (pros): 40% cheaper than Marui ver / Low cost / High quality / Its a 80% copy of the Marui ver / Made in Taiwan not China

Negative aspects of the product (cons): Durability of gun unknown / Durability of gearbox unknown

Would I recommend this gun to anyone? Yes, I would.

If you are on a budget, and you want a clean, simple assault rifle which takes STAR mags, then go for the AM4 A1.

If at a later date you want to upgrade the gun, then you shouldn't have any problems, given that most of the Marui M4 parts fit this gun no problem.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Cost, feel, looks
Cons: Bit plasticy, but not toooo bad

I bought a CA M15A4 full stock tactical carbine in France (well I can't really take in on the plane with me can I now?) and it is fantastic in operation, quality & finish - see the reviews on this site for more info.

The thing that struck me was that my M15A4 and the AIM AM4A1 didn't at first glance look that much different.

The body has an odd, but not unpleasant matt grey colour, and the semi-matt black finish on the moveable parts listed below could have a better finish to them (machine quality & paint-wise):

rear sight & parts of the removable carry handle
mag-release & spring
ring that holds the fore stock halves together
the front sling attachment,
dust flap
cocking handle

Though to be fair, its not toooo noticable, even at a short distance. The extendable stock does have a fragile "plastic" feel to it, and the barrel & flash hider are also plastic, but unless you examine them very closely, you wouldn't know. (no barrel wobble on mine either - at the moment)

The CA M15A4 has a strong springed ring to hold the 2 x halves of the fore stock together. On the AIM AM4A1, this spring is not so strong, so when gripped tightly, rear movement of the 2 x halves of the fore stock may cause the lower half to disengage in the heat of battle and the battery to drop - so be warned, otherwise the battery sits firmly in place in the lower fore stock recess.

This beauty comes with a hi-cap mag - I haven't used it in anger yet and I haven't had it chrono'd, and I am only speculating about the battery dropping - its just something I noticed. Due to the plastic, its not as heavy as the full metal versions, but is heavy enough.

All-in-all, its the the best £95 quid I've spent for a long time. A bargain AEG that I would recommend.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Cheap, high fps, TM compatible
Cons: Moulded plastic outer barrel, flash hider and front sight

I'm quite impressed with the AM4 except for one thing, the horribly fragile outer barrel.
Mine was snapped when I received it, around the collar where you attach it near the handguards.
I was intending to replace it anyway, so mine's now wearing a CA one piece metal outer barrel (although that's a bit thicker and has left me with nowhere to put a battery).

Long story short: Good gun, but replace the outer barrel.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): low cost
Cons: breaks.... ALOT

This was my first AEG. TO make a long story short, it worked great at first but then all of a sudden it started having a lot of problems. ive fixed over a dozen things that have gone wrong with it. dont get me wrong it could have been just mine. i recomend this gun to new player looking for an affordable and decent gun. i just hope yours doesnt break like mine did. over all it works ok. in my opinion just save up another hundred buck and buy a CA.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great Starter AEG, Price, Feel.
Cons: Some Plastic Parts (not too bad)

AIM M4 REVIEW-

FEEL-

Ok The feel of this gun is pretty decent. It is made mostly of plastic but thats ok. It has a Ver. 2 metal gearbox I believe.

PERFORMANCE-

When I first shot the gun with a 9.6v battery, it was awesome. Great FPS and you can get good accuracy if you know how to adjust the hop up and the sights.

NOTES-

My AIM is experiencing misfeeds right now (need some midcaps).

CONCLUSION-

AIM M4 is a great starter AEG, no doubt about it. It's good to use a 9.6v battery on it instead of an 8.4v. For more information on the AIM M4, go to the forums and search AIM m4. And if you have any questions, then contact Arivee, who has much experience with this gun. 8 out of 10.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): cost look fps
Cons: a little bit fragile compaired to other more expensive AEGs not the best hop up

A bargain AEG made to pretty good standards

so good i have 2 and i bought one for a mate as a birthday present. both from airsoft scotland

internally this is a pretty robust creature
with a great fps (last time chronoed mine it was 315fps)

So far i would say i have fired about 8000 rnds through one of em and all that has gone wrong is

1) the barrel cleaning rod broke in the barrel once ( it really is rubbish use a better one or make your own)
2) A cac handed mate broke the foward section off (as has happend to someone else in this thread he got a CA replacement, i glued mine back on)

Ok the one i bought for my mate its front sections bust as well now
out comes the glue sigh.....

So if you want airsofting on a budget get one of these just dont expect it tto like being dropped

Cheers All
