Positive aspects of the product (pros): good performance, light, compact, cheap, scope rail, strong stock
Cons: weak pistol grip

Well I am a man for practical guns over looks hence why I decided to get the cheapest TM shotgun system out there. The TAC LAUNCHER (TL) uses the same shotgun shells as the M3 and SPAS systems, aswell as the M203 launchers too.

They hold 30 pellets and fire 3 at a time as you will all know.

The gun takes sevral hundred rounds to get to optimum performance (as it states in the manual) due to heavy lubing. Once this was done, the TL performance and range increased and I was suprised at the little springers groups and range.

Well most say the gun is too small and the stock too short. With 2 click stops; one short and one way too short. I am only a short guy and this means it fits me perfectly and feels natural to use.

The gun comes with plastic weaver rails sides and top and this is a great saving when it comes to fitting a cheap red dot. The iron sights are very blocky and sop low they are impossible to use with the gun shouldered. They can only be used with the stock in and using the TL like a big 2 handed pistol.

It is easy enough to cock and the grip is nice and chunky making it less likely your hand will slip off (unlike the spas.)

The grip has a side thumb lever (like on all M203) to open it up by sliding it forward while the button is pressed. This reveals the loading bay for the cartridges. A switch is pulled and the empty cartridge pops out (and falls out if the TL is the right way up) then insert the full one, front end in first and it clicks into position.

Be sure to have your finger inside the trigger guard when usign this shotgun. Otherwsie when you cock the grip back you can mangle your trigger finger if it is in the safe position. Slide the grip forwrad, you are ready to fire.

Range is good for this guns size, maybe 40m, although spread can be random. We found the centre top barrel seemed more accurate and long ranged. Perhaps it had a different HOP effect by chance from the manufacturing process.

We used 0.20g and they work fine in this fixed hop gun. The pistol grip is based on an M4 one and reminds you of a cheap M4 AEG grip. It is hollow and a spare shotgun shell can be inserted into the pistol grip for quick reloads. Some say that it will fall out and get lost. But so far I have not encounted it coming loose. It does indeed help in reloading as you can easily get through the first 10 pumps of a contact in seconds and need to be able to get that second cartridge in quicker than using pockets.

However, the pistol grip is weak as it uses a similar design to how the M4 AEG grip attaches. Yet it is only screwing into plastic, not a metal gearbox, so is weak and can creak abit when cocking. I have tightened the screws a tiny bit (not wanting to thread them) and it has helped with less flex even after use.

Over View:

Well this is labelled as an entry CQB gun and for that I bet it will be great, after seeing other TM shotguns in such situations. However I have bought this as a backup/night/fun gun and think it is certainly good value for money. Getting some shells second hand cheap helped too.

Very click clacky in nature and loud to use, yet has a good bite with me hitting a guy stood on teh range today at 25m with all 3 pellets in the chest.... it made a collossol WHACK!

No chrono data yet, but will be soon, I guess it is around 280fps (a tiny bit less than a longer inner barreled SPAS).

Often under rated or overlooked, in my eyes, it's a bargain and effective too. Far easier to lug around than other TM shotguns (barring the M3 shorty). It compares well next to my M37 ithaca but fires 3 lighter pellets that have a wider group and more drift with wind.

Yep; recommended bargain basement.
