Positive aspects of the product (pros): Cheap, reel steel capacity,
Cons: plastic, shoots empty with 3/4 bbs left in mag

After selling my rather plastic Famas, i went out and purchased a brand new CA M15A2 Tac Carb. the gun is pretty realistic in build and i thought 'realism is what i want, so realism is what i'll get'.

It came with a standard hicap (something i hate, as i always feel im winding up a £250 disposable camera), so i passed on buying anymore. Instead i looked at the rather expensive idea of a series of marui or classic army standard caps. For atleast £15 a mag, it wud cost me the earth to be realistic and fill out my 6-12 mag holding assualt vest. So, on looking at airsoft scotland, i saw the box of 10 Star 'disposable' mags (disposable because they are sooo cheap and 'droppable'). To be honest i thought...£30 for a box of 10, they might not be any good, so instead i purchased 3 individual ones. Sure enough they were delivered on time and intact (weldone Airsoft scotland...once again). I loaded them up with a loading rod from my MP5K (didnt own a speed loader) and locked and loaded. The game commenced and i, in a rather trigger happy state, returned fire in full auto. It emptied the mag in no time at all, no jams, no loose mags (infact, the mags were quite snuggly fitted). However on removing an 'empty mag' 3 or 4 bbs dropped out of the magazine housing and the mag. this has happened every time ive had to remove/reload 9this is not a fault with my personal magsines, it happens with the MP5 mags too). So in actual fact, you are realling shooting 27 rnd mags. This is a bit of a disopointment, considering how low the capacity is anyway, and if you are using the biotech biodegradble ammo, 3 bb's is about 60 quid down the drain Sad. Regardless of this i have kept using them, i have a thing with single shot (acurate, realsitic and makes the game more interesting), so 30 rnds lasts a long time.

Conclusion:

After testing and using 3 of these magzines, i have bought another 5 or 6. They are great, if you have ever felt the earge to tear your empty mag out, drop it on the ground and slam the other in...these are great and virtually indestructable. In one fire fight, i sat in a trench shooting at an enemy who just wouldnt die (cheat). By the end, the parapet was littered with a pile of magazines, all of which impressed my team and the enemy (sad i know).
Overall, i would definatly buy these again (only ive run out of ammo pouches). They are solid, indestuctable, more or less the reel steel capacity, and of course, there is no ducking and winding, rattling or misfeeding. All you who love the single shot mark on your selector switch should enjoy these. And finally, for the price of 2 marui standard caps you get 10 of these beauties, go on give em a go.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): low capacity, cheap, durable
Cons: not great in A1 series TM AEG's

Well I went halves on a box of 10 of these from AIRSOFT SCOTLAND for 30 pounds (plus postage). I have had enough of high caps and these were to replace my 190's.

Well I am using these in a CAR15, which has an A1 magwell. There is a slight difference in the mag wells dimensions between the A1 series and the later TM A2/M4 series. The A1 series allows far more play on the magazines than the newer design. With TM mags, this makes no difference to feeding. However, with these STAR mags, you can have problems.

Well I put 1 of these mags next to a TM lowcap and straight away it was obvious that the square cutout for the rifles magazine release catch is higher up. Only by a couple of mils, but it is noticable.

These means that if the mag is inserted into the gun, it has enough play to hear and see it drop out of place. When this happens, the feed stops. Note that, you hear the spring release the pellets when inserted properly. You have to whack them into the gun to get them to feed again.

I have remedied this problem by attaching electricians tape to the sides of the mag's. 1 strip on 1 side and 2 on the other (lower than the mag catch). This simply causes a much snugger fit and the mags do not drop out of place. However, this also means you have to whack the mags home when inserting them and can be a tiny bit slower to swap (normally mags just fall out when the catch is pressed, now they have to be pulled).

I have spent a fair while testing these mag's and find that on average 27 pellets is indeed the average number of shots that are fired on semi before it stops feeding. As you know, this is more to do with the feed pipe on TM AEG's than the magazines. Incidentally, I find that the last 3 rounds can be fired on full auto and do feed on that setting.... although you can get a dry shot now and again (during the dregs).

This can be useful, as you fire away on semi auto till it stops feeding, then select full auto and you have something in your gun, while you change mags.... if you know what I mean?

Great for the M4 brigade, not so good for us A1 series users without modification. Nice price compared to the rest of the inflated magazines available. Only lightweight plastic and grey in colour (easy to paint).

Nice if you go prone and want to rest your mag on the floor (unlike high caps), as you get guaranteed feed and no mud in your mechanism. The internal springs are strong and really push the pellets up more than TM low caps (last 30 rounds). Plus the spring is easy to remove (due to access hatch).

With these mag's AEG's become fairer to use vs bolt action, pistol or shotguns. They become less like hose pipes and you have to think about your play far more. Just get used to swaping mags before you are empty.... Great idea for putting skill back into your games (as high caps kind of deskilled this sport for me). If mil-sim is your bag, I guess these are essential (and you are just "kidding yourself" if you use higher caps). By the way; often 27 rounds is all that the real steel reliably load.(I bought them for that reason not for MIL-SIM purposes).

oh yeah, if you want to avoid losing the 3 rounds (mentioned in the above review) then have the gun upside down throughout the mag change and you will get a full 30 rounds out of the next mag on semi.....

I have always wondered why someone didn't bring out cheap plastic mags, and finally they have been produced. For only £3 per mag, you can't ask for much more. But they do have a lever to unload the mags, however, I found this very tough to use with your fingers, due to the strength of the spring.

A genuine Bargain compared to TM low caps and the like. Yet if your playing field is mainly still on high caps, you will certainly struggle to compete in a stand up firefight. You will to have hide and snipe, making each shot count. These would be great for spotters/scouts, rather than the typical support gunners and the like.

PS: The hole in the bottom is not for lube in my opinion, as it doesn't lead into the feedpipe. Just into a cavity. It is just a replica on the bottom of real Armalite mags, I guess?

Positive aspects of the product (pros): They are virtually invinicble, real capacity, feed perfect load nice and are beautiful.
Cons: They eat up your lube...

I bought these for mil-sim.. I am a hardcore mil sim player... who uses airsoft for training.

These Mags are indestructable (unless your insane and hit them with a sledge hammer against concrete slab full force).

They are beatifully colored with a grey that compliments any weapon (especailyl mine hehe) to look superb!

They are shaped like a normal 30 round mag, colored with a gun grey, solid feel (amazingly feels more solid than the 450 round hi-cap that's metal that comes with an Olympic Arms M4)and there is a hole in the bottom (I use it for lubing, lol ) and the top looks like any other airsoft armalite mag.

If you lube them good and keep them nice and clean, (like you should!) then you can get them to feed to the last bb ( I REALLY DON'T SEE HOW )... It's happened to me... I even checked my chamber to see if it was clogged and it was clean... I was just test firing through a window out into a field. THey usually don't feed the last 1-2 bbs, but occastionally feed 100% of a mag!

I gave it a 10 because they are cheap, reliable, beautiful, and they're all around good...
