After chatting with a new fellow AK user at a skirmish recently, I realised that some people where having a little problem finding functional and practical gear for their magazines and other kit. So I thought I would review some of my kit
This review is on the Chicom Chinese chest rig. It is made from Made of heavy duty cotton canvas. It comes in olive green colour. It carries 3 AK47 magazines and has 4 smaller pockets which can fit ball grenades or smokes. The pouches are closed with toggles these can be a fiddle in a fight and more so with gloves. I find the outer pouches for grenades are smaller and tighter which makes pulling the grenade out in a game hard they are however a good size for smoke grenades.
The rig is adjustable by the cross shoulder straps and secured across the lower back by two straps that is tied together. It is a very tough piece of kit and should last a long time.
Another more detailed review on the rig can be found at http://www.ukasc.net/content.php?review.48
For someone who wants to stay quiet, move fast and light this is a good cheap option and a steal for the price.------------------------------

I got this for a Vietnam SOG load out. I found them at a retailer for only $10. It was a very well spent $10.
The day I got it, I used it, I had no AK but I used it anyway. There are 3 rifle magazine pockets, and 4 more pouches for things like frags. Some designs feature a 4th magazine pouch and only two accessory pouches.
The three rifle magazine pouches will each hold 1 M16 magazine, or 1 AK-47 magazine. The same pouches will also each old two M16 20 round style magazines. The two pockets that flank the main pouches on each side will also hold a single M16 20 round magazine. The outer pouches however seem smaller and would not hold the magazine or my Motorola Talk About that the other two "frag" pouches would hold.
As I said, the day I got it, I abused it. I belly crawled through the woods, the mud, everything pretty much. At the end of the day it was covered in mud and wet. Although the thick canvas had managed to maintain dryness on the interior. I took it home, hosed it down, and now its looking like new with no problems as far as damage.
The only problem I have is the shoulder straps. They keep sliding off. It usually only happens when I am prone. I talked to others with the same rig and they believe it’s due to the way I sized them. In any event some Para-cord tying them together at the rear solved the problem.
So if you have an AK and need a cheap durable way to carry the large magazines, buy this item.
www.cheaperthandirt.com has them for only $10 USD.------------------------------ War Wolves
