Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
MUCH easier than carrying a 1 litre gas can around in the field, looks great, full metal construction, reliable functionality.
|
|
Cons:
|
Doesn't fill completely due to 'silent' filling valve, not easy to carry unless you have a tac-vest / utility belt.

This is one of those products that I saw and really liked the look of. Such a simple design, yet such a novel concept. I had to get one (well, two actually) from WGC Shop of Hong Kong.
First Impressions
The Distraction Device comes in a tagged transparent plastic package with bubble-wrap surrounding the output nossle and handle. It might have looked better in a cardboard box, but hey - I'm not buying this for the packaging am I?
First glance reveals that this is entirely constructed from metal (apart from the rubber seals around the valves) and has a nice weight to it. The pin rotates freely and the "dead-man's handle" / "spoon" is sturdy.
On early models, the name of the device was mis-spelled as "Distraction Devise" rather than "Distraction Device", but the new models have fixed this (link to photo of older model's mis-spelling). On the new models however, I can assure you that every word (including the detailed text on the back) is correctly spelled and very realistic.
Use and Abuse
First off, this device is very easy to use. Just turn the device upside down, connect your gas-can to the filling valve on the base and press the two together. You will hear a faint hissing sound as the gas transfers from source can to distraction device. This sound will get weaker as the device fills up, but it will not fill up entirely. No gas escapes during the correct filling process as this is a 'silent valve', increasing gas efficiency, but decreasing the total usable volume in the device. My advice is to fill this device with a full can of gas as you will get more in than trying to fill it with a mostly empty source can. Keeping the device cool or gently warming the source can before filling helps a lot though.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: If you decide to warm the source can before filling, do not over-heat it. Body temperature (38 degrees C) is the maximum it should be warmed to as any more will go beyond what the manufacturer deems safe for their container. Overheating the source can beyond this level could lead to rupture of the can and cause serious injury or death for anyone nearby)
To fill your magazines from the device, simply twist off the upper assembly (Pin and Spoon) revealing the output nozzle. Insert the output nozzle in to the filling valve of the magazine and press them together. Then fill the magazine as normal.
Two 100% full distraction devices will suit most people an entire day's skirmishing. On my last skirmish, I took 6 pistols and lots of spare magazines in to the field and no AEG. I filled all of my magazines before the event from my usual green gas can and took two 100% full distraction devices with me. They lasted me all day and then some, without the need for further top-ups from the source can.
I have personally used this device with gasses ranging from 134a to Green Gas without a problem. While it may well suit gasses more expansive than Green, I cannot specifically state that it will take red gas or Carbon Dioxide.
This device is very strong and of full metal construction so it is resistant to most knocks and scrapes. However a strong enough impact could potentially rupture the can, allowing explosive decompression. Normal skirmish conditions would never bring you near to the level of damage necessary for this event to occur, but excessive abuse could theoretically cause this to happen. By comparison, this device is stronger and tougher than most source cans though.
It is also worth noting that this device is black. Of course you will have noticed this by looking at the photos, but there is a little known aspect to this colour choice. Black objects absorb electromagnetic energy far more effectively than lighter colours, so sunlight is going to heat this device up fast. DO NOT LEAVE A FULL DISTRACTION DEVICE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME! Doing so could heat this device to an unsafe level with predictable consequences.
Conclusion
I really quite like this accessory. It's innovative, good looking, well built, and reliable. It is obviously not anm essential purchase, but when has anything Airsoft-related been essential
If you enjoy your GBB or NBB replicas and partake in skirmishes on a semi-regular basis, this could be worth investing in.
It looks great on your tac-vest and will fill any gun that your green gas can will. It's not a product you can get particularly excited about, but it does what it does flawlessly and effectively. I take my two to every skirmish I go to now as I am quite the fan of GBB pistols. What more can I say?
I give this 8 out of 10.

easier to carry than bottle of gas

|
Cons:

filling nozzle does not fit my mag properly gas escapes out the side. silent fill valve never know if its full or not

overall very happy with this product. I have found a few problems like the fill valve doesnt quite fit my valve on my tm 1911 meu mags and when filling gas escapes out of the side. the paints starting to chip of the dead mans spoon and top of the flash bang.
Good points are easier to carry than a small can of gas, easy to use, fits into magazine pocket designed for m4/16 mags.
overall id recommend this product wanting to carry spare gas into battle wether its for re filling mags or granade luncher rounds
