Like many people, I have found that for skirmishing purposes, Low-Capacity (Standard) magazines just don't hold enough ammo. I tried Hi-Capacity magazines which hold 4 times more ammo. Unfortunately though, these regularly jammed, stopped feeding, rattled when I moved, automatically unwound their spring tension whenever they felt like it and fell out of the magazine-well.

So when I found out that Zero One Airsoft had started selling Mid-Capacity magazines, I had to at least try them out.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed was that the finish on these magazines was excellent. Sort of a metallic "blued" finish instead of the black paint you find on other MP5 magazines.

The magazines load up similar to lo-cap magazines. Using a BB Loading Tool is the best way to fill these magazines up, and it takes just short of 100 BBs in its double-stacked tube.

When you put the magazine in to the gun, the immediate thought is "Wow, these fit REALLY well". In actual fact, they are slightly wider than the standard High and Low-Cap magazines, so they fit snugly in to the gun. There is no rattle or wobble, and they never just "drop" out of the gun of their own free will (as hi-caps have done for me several times before).

Shooting

Shooting is the next step, and this quickly reveals that these magazines feed reliably and effectively. There is no wheel to wind up, and the BBs don't rattle inside the magazine like hi-caps. These magazines also continue to feed at any angle. On a hi-cap, if the gun is turned sideways or upside down, feeding will stop and the mechanism will unwind itself. Not with these mid-caps though - they just keep on shooting.

Price

These magazines are pretty cheap too. Less expensive than Hi-Caps, but a coupld of pounds more than Lo-Caps. Considering all of the benefits unique to these magazines though, the price is very good.

Conclusion

So, to sum up...

They don't need winding like Hi-Caps
Hold 100 shots which is enough to stop the mag-changes being annoying,
Don't rattle like Hi-Caps,
VERY Rarely jam up or stop feeding like Hi-Caps,
Have a FAR more realistic finish (they are NOT painted),
They are cheap,
They work at any angle, not just straight upright,
They fit the mag-well very snugly - Hi-Caps tend to wobble left to right,
They don't drop out of the gun without you pressing the mag release like Hi-Caps can,
Scratches only make them look better as there is no paint to rub off.

So these magazines get a resounding thumbs up from me. I've tried the rest, now I'm sticking with the best - G&P MP5 Mid-Cap Magazines. Smile

Well, since I had the ICS MP5A4 like R22Master, I also had a G&P MP5 Mid Cap.

I really don't have anything else to say about it, but I still just like to reinforce what's been said above and make people more confident in the product.

The G&P MP5 mid cap I had fits tightly into the ICS MP5A4 mag well, and I had never had any kind of feeding problem with it.

I didn't, however, like the finish on the mag. It's a bit shiny, and shows finger prints easily. I'd prefer the black finish on the ICS hi cap. But the paint doesn't come off as easily as the ICS hi cap.

Just like Shao14 upstairs, I think R22Master says it all.

I got 1 of these for home use so I don't have to wind when I am just fooling around. These mags are really sweet and I both love and hate the finish. I wish it's darker and not as shiny, but I love the fact that they aren't paint. The metal is actually blue. (or maybe gun-blued).

Mine did jam once in a while (it might be my excel .25's), but a slap on the side always fixes it).

I'd highly recommend it if you love your MP5, stick one in and your MP5 will love you for it. (I am planning to get some more eventually).

Cons:	maintenance

Bought said mags for my mp5. Solidly built and has so far managed to shrug off all the abuse I can throw at them. However, the spotwelds at the rear of one of the mags has failed causing the body to come apart a little. Hardly noticeable.

The mags also require frequent maintenance as they are blued rather then painted like the marui/ca/ics mags. If you dont rub them down with an oily rag after a skirmish you will end up with rusty mags.

Other then that, an excelent reason to dump your low/high caps Smile

I have a ICS MP5SD5 and i agree with all the above reviews. the mag is top notch and i currently own 4.

only bad side was my bag with my mags in got rained on overnight and my mags had minor rust on the outside and once rubbed off it took the "paint" or "tint" off the mag. its nothing serious and the plus side is that it makes the mags look more "used"

other than thata great mag, has never fell out my AEG and has only jammed ONCE which was quickly resolved with a tap on my leg.

Now this is a bit unfair, because I got three of these with my used gun so I can't know if these are fixed or something, but I've bought a new one two years ago and it worked perfectly on my TM MP5K, no problems at all. The price is what one would cost me in Finland atm. Some people do say these jam, but that's before they break in (I never had problems, but G&P M16 mags DO have some at first).

I have an ICS MP5 SD5 and these fit nicely. No problems at all even though the ROF is kinda high.

It sounds like ten points, but I don't want to give one that easily. These could be a bit heavier (still, I think they weigh more than TM mags) and more solid.

Now why don't they make metal Kurz midcaps, like 60bb or so Sad

These mags are the best thing your MP5 could ask for. there isnt much else to be said because people seem to have covered it. all i suggest is if you play in the rain/damp weather keep a rag with some wd-40 on it in ure trousers and wipe it down afterwards.
