Mini 8.4 battery ONLY
|

10am on 12/15/04 and UPS brings me this:

These are the kind of UPS deliveries I like.

Box contents are even nicer.

Even Marui is putting Blackwater stuff in the M4-S pics .
So far I can confirm the following:
- Tabs are metal reinforced on the body.
- 1 piece aluminum outer barrel.
- S.I.R. will ONLY take an 8.4 Mini Battery. The battery well is an area milled out of the outer barrel.
- Flip up rear sight is spring loaded like the real Knight's version.
- Flip up front sight.
- LE style rear stock.

The S.I.R. is plastic and metal.
The S.I.R. is a bit different then the all metal S.I.R.'s that have been available. Above I marked the rails which are the only things on the S.I.R. that are metal. The Rest of the S.I.R. is plastic.
The beefier 1 piece outer barrel makes up for the lack of an all metal S.I.R. We're talking zero barrel wobble!!!
The front and rear folding sights are metal!!! The rear site is spring loaded and function like the real ARMS read S.I.R. sight.

Battery Physical Size Capacity. Note the underside of barrel has a notch cut out about 4" long
To accomodate a battery in the foregrip, TM had to mill/cut a section of the outer barrel. TM made this cut EXACTLY the length of an 8.4 mini battery. The only way I can forsee using a 9.6 mini battery is cut/dremel away more of the outer barrel to accomodate the added length.
The M4-S System can not use any M4 metal body on the market without a conversion kit. The M4-S actually has a different body then the rest of the M4 line. If you do put an M4 Metal body on an M4-S will need this conversion kit:

The Laylax Sling solves my battery problem.

Putting my money where my mouth is...
OMFG The A.I.C.S. is NOT an L96, AWP or AWM!!!

cheap, light SIR as stock. armalite - highly upgradeable/customisable
|
|
Cons:

requires body adaptor to fit normal M4 outer barrels and receivers. Only takes mini batteries

Bought about a year ago while I was in Scotland.
The TM M4 S-System is a very solid and creak-free gun. One of the heaviest stock AEGs I have held. Heavier than G36s, other M4s and MP5s. Mine was firing 282fps stock and was accurate enough for woodland skirmishing. I have since upgraded many of the internals including the inner barrel and the spring, as well as putting on a G&G sopmod stock and long silencer. It still works fine.
Only problems for upgradeability is the receiver is not the same as on the other M4s. It cannot be given the normal 2 part metal receivers or the same outer barrels as them. S-System-specific ones are sold but beware of buying ones that fit the normal armalites instead.
Another problem is it can only take mini batteries in the SIR and unless you customise your own it will probably have to be 8.4V. Not too much of a problem for me, but may be if you are trigger-happy.
Still a good gun, and 8 of 10 from me.

Orca-no offense to you and your review. I just have one little correction. When you say the TM M4 S-System's rear flip-up sight it Knight's. It's actually a replica of the ARMS #40L rear flip-up sight. And to add, the front flip-up sight is a replica of the PRI sight.

This was my very first AEG. I loved the gun all the way up until it broke. It lasted 6 months used it maybe 10 times. My friend bought one his lasted 1 outing. By the middle of the game it was shredding itself from within. I still dont believe. It, all the parts were sturdy, the RIS was sweet but both guns self destructed.
