I think the Surefire website sums up everything about this little gadget nicely:
[quote]
The SureFire G2 flashlight is powered by two lithium batteries (10-year shelf life) and made of Nitrolon, a proprietary polymer compound that is lightweight, corrosion-proof and non-conductive. A molded-in gridlock pattern allows for a sure grip in any weather, and although three to four times brighter than a typical 2-D cell flashlight this lightweight powerhouse is less than five inches long; making it ideal when space is at a premium and weight is an issue. The G2 features unique switching originally developed for law enforcement - twist for constant on, or depress the tailcap button for momentary illumination or emergency signaling.
The G2 can also be converted to a rechargeable flashlight using our special KR1 conversion kit.

I hear some people say this flashlight uses up battery pretty quick in continuous use. Surefire advertises it as 60 minutes with the stock 65 lumen lamp. I have had mine for some time now, but only use it occasionally for a brief period each time, and haven't needed to replace the battery yet.

The G2 Nitrolon from Surefire represents a very good flashlight at a very cheap price. I would say that it is probably the best flashlight I've ever gotten for $35.00 and I still use it now.
It's 65 Lumen bulb provides a very strong concentrated beam of light capable of temporary blindless, as are all Surefire lights. The body is made of some type of polymer I believe. I've gotten the OD model, as ASGI was out of stock on the Black.
The battery is obviously the Lithium CR123A and it requires 2. The battery life itself is rated for 60 minutes on continous use, however I haven't been able to test that. I only used it for 1 to 2 minute periods at most and usually just turn it on to get a better look at something for a second.
To turn it on .. it's quite unusual from a tactical standpoint. There is not push button that keeps the light on. However, there are two options. You may turn the knob clockwise until the light shines, or you may push the small black button at the back of the light and it will have a momentary beam of light for however long you hold the button. This is obviously not too tactical, but I believe a pressure switch can be replaced onto the unit and make it alot more simple to use.
Currently, I'm still using this flashlight for alot of things, not necessarily combat based. It is indeed an excellent light for the price. However, you may want to invest in a pressure switch to make this thing a bit more adaptive.
