The first springer which i ever owned personally was the Tokyo Marui Glock 17 springer pistol. After seeing the pistol orginally on the Sega Saturn game, Deep fear, i fell in love with the shape and look of the gun and decided that the Glock was going to be my first purchase.
I bought the pistol for £30 from my local model shop. This is the Non-Hop-up version (the Glock 17-L in the picture is the Hop-up model) but is still a remarkably good little springer. I bought this back in 1998/99 as at the time i was just starting to become aware of airsoft popularity, hence the reason i started with a spring pistol (on the off-chance that i wouldn't like the sport in the long run).
Upon opening the grey box and removing the pistol, i was impressed by the texture and feel of the G-17. It was light but rugged looking and didn't look horribly plastic (like the Glock 19 spring pistol i bought the following year...) The magazine is a big chunky thing that holds around 24 BB's and slots into the pistol with a meaty Clunk! Pulling back the slide is extremely smooth and easy to do (considering the squareness of the top slide) and the trigger has just a hint of a creep to it.
I can honestly say that out of all the springer pistols i've owned (and i've had a fair few, trust me on this!) the Glock pistols are remarkably easy to sight along. 9 times out of 10 i've hit a target, whereas i've only managed just over half that with the likes of say the TM Beretta springer. Power isn't too bad and i'd hazard a guess that it fires around 230fps (approx) The TM model also incorporates the "Double-Trigger" that on the real steel version, takes the weapon off safe and although it isn't that effective as a safety on the spring version, still adds a nice degree of realism to the model. TM also brought out the Glock 17-L which is a slightly larger version than the 17 (and improves slightly on accuracy and power - longer barrel perhaps?) The magazines between the Glock 17 and 17-L are interchangeable as well.
The safety switch on this model is located above the trigger below the top slide. Pushing the switch down locks the safety and pushing it up releases it. the magazine catch located on the left side of the frame doesn't stick out too much and releases the mag very smoothly.
All in all, i love my springers (who doesn't?) and if you want a reliable hard-working little springer pistol for use as either a cheap back-up weapon or for just plinking or target practice, then you can't really go wrong with the TM Glock pistols...
I mean, i've had mine since '98 and it's STILL going strong!

*suitcase*, I best go and check it still works.

creaky trigger mech + doesn't feel that solid.

I had a non hop and hop TM glock17. Well it is indeed a nice HOP UP springer pistol and impressive a decade ago.
However I found the trigger mech to be a creaky affair and made me pull the pistol abit off target sometimes. The HOP version uses a brass barrel rather than the older aluminium versions on the high grade model.
The 17L version was not noticably that much better in performance I recall.
It's a good springer, but the TM 1911A1 springer is better for the same money.
