Positive aspects of the product (pros): Spring, fun, takes shells, cheap
Cons: low power, horribly plastic, no Hop-up

"Go ahead.... Make my day!"

The famous line uttered by Clint Eastwood's character Harry Callahan in the famous Dirty Harry movies, just prior to him blowing away someone with his M29 .44 8 3/8" Magnum revolver...

Unfortunately, that's where the similarity between that and this model ends...

Back in 1999, i decided that i would like to get myself a revolver (just to even the collection out - M16-M203... MP5-A5... Glock 17...) and upon searching in Gun Mart, discovered a series of revolvers made by a company called Crown. There were a few revolvers available by them (Colt python range -2",4",6",8", the "Smython" and the M29 range -4",6 1/2", 8 3/8")

Well i had them all years ago (back when i had money) until 2001 when they were gotten rid of. Back in 2004 i attended an event called ArnieGeddon and through Sledge, managed to acquire the 6 1/2" and 8 3/8" revolvers.

First Impressions of the gun are "It's horribly plastic!" I knew that going into the deal and to be fair, only bought these with the aim of having them as a showpiece. I did actually ONCE use this as a primary pistol and got a kill with it too! (although in fairness, i think it was because the guy i shot was laughing at the sight of me trying to shoot him with a VERY low powered spring revolver... or maybe the wind was right?)

Anyway, the revolver comes with 6 little shells, each of which has a small black rubber that holds 1 BB (0.12g are recommended) giving a total of 6 shots. On the frame of the revolver, the cylinder is released by pulling back on the release located on the left and can be pushed out with your hand. You load all 6 shells into the cylinder and then shut it (i noticed that on the 6 1/2" version, the front part of the cylinder had to be pushed in a little harder than on the 8 3/8" model... Don't know why!)

Firing the revolver requires you to pull back the hammer until it clicks. Adopt a manly stance and pull the trigger. The BB will then (unremarkably) be fired from the barrel. Range is only about 10-15 feet and power... well, i wouldn't like to guess but i'd say it's about 150 fps IF that. Upon firing all 6 shots, the cylinder must be released and the shells individually reloaded with another BB each. The safety (as it is) is located on the right hand side near the plastic-wood grips (a small black button) There is no inner barrel on this like on TM or pretty much any other spring pistol. It's just plastic! (I found this out when i actually dismantled the front of the gun)

This revolver requires you to pull the hammer back before each shot and with a bit of practice (heh heh) you can fire all 6 rounds off in around 3 seconds!!! (which would be good if there was actually some power to do it credit.)

In all honesty, anyone even contemplating using one of these spring revolvers as a skirmish weapon will undoubtedly be laughed at. It doesn't even BEGIN to compare to other budget springers. All in all, if you're like me and have a morbid fascination in owning one of these guns as a showpiece or decorative weapon, then by all means get one. Other than that...

Darklite: Actually, I was using my AK - the shottie I had lent to Tink at that point.

*suitcase*, I best go and check it still works.
