This upgrade was purchased primarily to iron out further inconsistencies through leakages around the bb whilst in the barrel and to further improve accuracy. Many people seem to stream to tightbore barrels as a way to increase fps, but springs are a lot cheaper by far! Tightbore barrels do not offer a lot, regardless of what people claim. They have either come by this massive power increase through testing inaccuracies, or though correct rebuilding of an earlier faulty gun.
The following results were obtained, using an ICS MP5A4, with Systema hop bucking and 1J spring, with no hop applied. The standard piston head has been drilled to aid better sealing. All readings are in FPS using a Combro CB-625.
Min 314.25 Max 321.69 Ave 317.78 Rge 7.88
Readings with tightbore installed
Min 320.38 Max 325.28 Ave 322.89 Rge 4.90
The results show a 5 FPS increase in the average, what we are mainly concerned with. Also, the other main difference is the range of the results. The tightbore clearly shows a 3 FPS drop, showing that it increases the consistencey of the shots between the highest and lowest readings, which in turn will lead to more consistent shooting and targeting.
Overall, a great purchase to add accuracy and consistency to any gun.
