DE M47B2 review
Brand: Double Eagle
Model: M47B2
Based on/Replica of: Remington M870 Sawn Off with Pistol Grip and RIS system.
Action: Spring
Power: 0.6-0.7 J
Cost: $120HKD ($16USD)
Before anyone starts bleating “UTG!” let me enlighten you with wise witty words of wisdom, wise and witty and wordy in all ways.
UTG rebrands and resells Chinese Airsoft products.
The entire range of UTG airsoft products is merely rebranded CYMA/WELL/Double Eagle/Both Elephant/JR works stuff.
All UTG do is buy them in bulk, change the boxes and documentation and add some extra accessories, then sell them on for 2-3 times more than they buy em for.
However, it is not my job to comment on company ethics. It is my job to REVIEW.
And love the ladies, but that’s not entirely relevant here.
Anyhow, going around the seedier areas of Mong Kok, I came across this little beauty. I’d seen it on the web for only $120HKD (bout $16USD) and was interested.
However, the shopkeep wanted $150 for it. I, naturally, paid up straight away.
And then turned into a large poodle, and floated away into the sun on a raft made of kangaroos.
I didn’t pay $150HKD. I haggled expertly, as only a Hong Konger could.
Believe me, Mrs. Williams from down the road in Surrey can haggle her way out of a large cage of psychopathic bible salesmen with axes and blowtorches, but the Hong Konger will not only survive unscathed, he or she will have managed to get a toaster and a tenner into the bargain.
Anyhow, I ended up paying a paltry $100HKD ($13USD) for what I knew was one of the best low-cost-high-effectiveness Airsoft Springers ever.
Upon opening the box, we are confronted by :
- The M47B2
- A Red Dot scope
- A bag of white BBs of unspecified weight
- A pair of shooting glasses
- A Tactical Light
- 3 x AAA batteries
- 4 x small watch batteries
- An adjustable laser and mount
- A screw driver, several extra screws and thumbscrew heads for the tac light, scope and laser
- A hex key for adjusting the laser
- A large watch battery
- A loading tube and rod
- A manual
Quite a lot of stuff. From the manual we can see the many different variants (all with RIS systems, apparently) that DE make.
The Gun
The first thing you notice about the gun is that it’s plastic. Very good quality plastic, but still plastic. The only metal external parts are the cocking tube and the cocking bar. It still feels very solid, however, and the cocking tube is hollow, allowing you to put an iron bar in there or something to add a bit more heft.
Cocking the gun is a dream; it’s very easy and smooth. A handy feature is the ability to slam-fire, which is when you hold down the trigger whilst cocking, and the gun firs as soon as you complete the cocking cycle. Good for those oh-tits-got-seven-people-charging-at-me times.
Another handy thing about this gun is that you can cock it multiple times to fired multiple bbs. You only need to cock it about an inch back to load another round, though, so it can be done quickly and rather silently.
The gun also has an adjustable hop-up, which, for a $100HKD gun, is pretty impressive. It’s adjusted by means of a large pad on the bolt, which unfortunately is closed. It’s easy to adjust and works well.
The magazine is plastic, but fits well and doesn’t wobble. You can load it with 20rounds at a push, but I choose to go for 15-18 at the most. Unlike the UTG versions, you do NOT get an extra mag, which is awkward since I cannot find anywhere in HK that do extra mags. Ah well, the UTG ones will fit.
WORD OF WARNING: THE UTG/DE MAGS WILL NOT FIT IN THE MARUZEN SHOTGUNS, AND VICE-VERSA.
The mags can be easily loaded with a speedloader, or the supplied loading rod.
Now onto the fun bit: Firing.
Khak-klick.
POP.
Khak-klick.
POP.
The actual sound of firing is pretty quiet, although the sound of you cocking the gun is most likely what will give you away.
This thing is a powerhouse! It shoots at 260-270fps out of the box, and is more accurate than a gun that cheap should be allowed to be. With 0.2g, I was easily getting 3” groupings at 20m.
Bear in mind the gun has no sights, and the scope that comes with it is useless.
The box states the maximum range is 50m, and I believe that. The hop-up may be simple, but it works very very well.
UPDATE: This gun's range is CRAZY - In battle today I was getting 50m+ hits on the target range.
The gun, unfortunately, has no sights, but a RIS system, which can be removed wih about 8 screws. The RIS system, surprisingly, is actually 20mm, unlike most cheap RIS systems which are too wide or too tall. Hence, any high-end RIS mounted hardware will fit perfectly. Correspondingly, the accessories that are included will fit any other proper RIS system (why you’d want to).
First port of call for me is to get a cheap Classic Army Reflex sight, which will cost more than the gun, at $158HKD. Look out for that review soon.
Which brings us onto the next thing:
The Scope
Hmm. The scope is actually a tubular Red Cross Scope, although the eye relief is bad and the cross is fuzzy around the edges. It does however have three settings, 0-1-2, Off-Low-High, and is adjustable. It mounts onto any 20mm rail. Pretty bad, but for $100 who cares?
The Laser
The laser, I think, is the only accessory that might just be useful. It’s adjustable, but the mount that it comes with is terrible. It has a pressure pad and a bit of elastic to hold it to the grip.
UPDATE: The laser is now developing an alarming tendency to turn itself on when it pleases and refuse to go off - I have since scrapped it.
The Tac-Light
Hmm. Again, mounts to a 20mm rail, but isn’t all that bright or powerful. It runs on 3x AAA batteries, and is decent enough, but has no ‘pulse’ setting. It’s either on or off, not like most other expensive tac-lights. It’s still useable though. At least it’s better than the LAM that comes with the TM NBB Mk23, although to be honest that’s not really saying much.
The Safety Glasses
These things are getting better and better, although it’s still made for a child, or very small person. It barely fits on my noggin, and my nose is too big for it. Surprisingly it comes with a rubber/soft plastic nosepiece, so it’d be comfortable if your head is small enough to fit.
I wouldn’t recommend using it for skirmishing though, as the sides are open.
REMEMBER KIDS: ALWAYS USE A FULL FACE MASK OR A SET OF SEALED GOGGLES WHEN SKIRMISHING. YOU ONLY GOT TWO EYES, YOU DON’T WANT TO LOSE THEM.
The Manual is written in the usual Chingrish, but it’s better than most. Interestingly, it shows 6 varients:
- Pistol Grip full RIS (M47B2)
- Pistol Grip half RIS (M47B1)
- Full Stock full RIS (M47A2)
- Full Stock half RIS (M47A1)
- Sawn off grip full RIS (M47C2)
- Sawn off grip half RIS (M47C1)
The full RIS are like the RIS on mine, but the half RIS only have a top rail and a scope. Hmm. I might have to track one down and see if it’s any cheaper for it.
The Sawn Off grip is like the Maruzen’s original CA870 grip, but black.
I plan to get a Full Stock Half RIS, remove the RIS and extend the barrel so that I can get a classic M870 look going.
In conclusion, buy one. Hell, for the price, buy three!
They can be found for cheap at www.sunnywarehouse.com who ship to USA.
Oh, and boycott Airsplat, they rip you off and don’t send you the right stuff.------------------------------

Cons:

It's plastic

I won't give this a perfect 10 because it's not quite perfect. I'd need a triple barrel system and more metal in it to warrant a 10.
Howver this gun is absoloutley great to use.
I agree with all points in the previous review except the red dot thing. I've using the red dot that came with this on my glock and on the M47. Have had no problems whatsoever.
If you want a cheap shotgun back up thats stupidly inexpensive get one of these. It's easily as effective as a maurzen.------------------------------ ~There's always some total git with a bigger gun just waiting round the corner with his finger on the trigger~ It's normally me

DE M47B2 review
Brand: Double Eagle
Model: M47A2
Action: Spring
Power: about 1J with 0,12BB
Cost: 4700HFt (25USD)
This is my first airsoft gun, maybe I'm partial to it a little bit. Please read DarkLite's review, it's perfect.
My review: the shooting range more than 40m. I need to change/modify the hopup, it's too hard.
When you buy this gun you should open it, clean the mechanics, use good quality graphite grease and silicon oil.You will win 10-20fps.
The accessories (except the tactical lamp) are unuseable.
It's a great gun for this price. Buy it!
