Pros:

Good Weight, High ROF, Amazing Internal Work
|
|
Cons:
|
Crane Stock is VERY hard to operate!
|
|
Note- I don't like giving tens because in my eyes, a 10 means this is the best possible product I could have found, and there is not 1 flaw. Saying that- Here's the M15A4 CQB Review.
INTRO:
First off, I'd like to say that I got the M15A4 CQB from Gamepod Combat Airsoft. Great guys, and I highly recommend them.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
As I slid the top off of the Styrofoam, I was amazed. There were tons of posters covering my gun! I quickly glanced through them all, just waiting to see my new gun. I was pleased to see a few things; the metal body with beautiful Armalite logos, and the laser engravings on the RIS. What I didn't like about it is Classic Army decided to crazy glue the black flash-suppressor on, and then paint it neon orange. On most other AEGs, they include the black metal flash-hider separate.
I was surprised at the length of the gun. It is a little smaller than I expected, but that's what I wanted. A small, tactical, CQB machine!
When I first held the gun, I was amazed how sturdy it felt. Compared to my Tokyo Marui M733, it was a god. The metal body, RIS, and crane stock are all very nice features. The gun is very heavy, and well made. As I pulled the charging handle back, I was disappointed that the dust cover didn't pop open like it does on my TM M733. Unfortunately, the dust cover has to be opened by hand, and it stays up by a magnet. As I pulled open the cover, I was astonished to find that the bolt was a shiny aluminum-looking piece. The bolt inside is stationary and the front of it is cut out to fit in the hop-up adjustment knob. Then I noticed it.. The knob was yellow! I decided to keep the dust cover up.
I then had Craig at Gamepod upgrade the CQB to 400 FPS with an M120 spring. As he opened up the gearbox, I was amazed. It was very colorful, but very nice. It was amazingly clean and slick looking. All the parts are already reinforced, so I did not need gear replacements. I didn't have much time to gaze at it, because Craig finished up the upgrade in about 7 minutes.
PERFORMANCE:
I have yet to take the M15A4 out on the field, but in tests, I have noticed the ROF to be higher than my M733, and the accuracy to be slightly better. I am currently running a 9.6 3300 mAh battery in the crane stock.
CONS:
There are only a few cons about the CQB. Here is a list of problems I have run into.
-The crane stock is the worst! Amazingly hard to use.
-The front sling swivel is on the bottom of the rifle, making it just a little tougher to have a 3 point sling attached to.
-The RIS can become a little wobbly with the vertical fore-grip.
PROS:
I am not going to list all of the pros about the M15A4 CQB, because I could go on forever. But I will list some!
-The Looks. Stunning.
-Very sturdy feeling
-Nice weight distribution.
-Rewiring job pre-done.
-Tons of reinforced parts.
CONCLUSION:
I love this gun to death. I could not have chosen a better gun than this. There’s a reason why I use this gun more than any of my other guns. It is ergonomic, versatile, reliable, and straight up cool looking. It is a little pricey, but well worth the money.
NOTE TO ALL CQB OWNERS:
When you remove the crane stock, you will notice the tube to be a little sharp. What you should do to avoid ruining your battery is file the sharp edges down. This will make it so the battery will not get chopped up by it!
FINISHED PRODUCT:

EDIT-7/3/06:
I have sold my CQB. The only reason is because of the horrid crane stock. After dealing with it for a few months, I couldn't handle the situation anymore. I knew it was hard to use a crane stock, but I never knew it was this hard. It took me upwards of 8 minutes to put the stock on with the battery in there. I would not reccomend a crane stock to anyone.

Pros:
|
An exellent compact package: RIS with vertical grip, crane stock, and detachable rear sight. High ROF, decent range, good hop up, good power, reinforced internals, licensed trade marks, cosmetic gas tube. A solid piece of kit over all.
|
|
Cons:
|
RIS height could use a bit more fine tuning. Crane stock hard to operate. RIS cover could be tighter. A sling loop on the side of the front sight would be welcome.

CA M15A4 CQB review
Just to add some of my own thoughts about this, if I may, excellent
excellent piece of equipment to the existing reviews. Most of what
my experience will simply reinforce what has been said above or else
where.
Having had my CA M15A4 Carbine for a year and being very impressed
by it's quality and performance, I knew that I couldn't go wrong
with CA M15. The CQB looked as lovely as ever (and I would've
bought the CQB in the first place had it been release a year ago),
so I decided to go commando style and get another Armalite (relieved
my carbine of duty under my command shortly after, and it went on to
serve another fellow plastic warrior.)
Onto the CQB. Almost everything I came to expect and more, and
less.
First, the GOOD:
Nice black finish as usual. Weight a bit more heavier than my
carbine because the metal RIS and crane stock. Putting in a 3800
mah crane stock battery, it adds a couple more pounds. The weight
of the CQB is more balanced than the carbine since the battery is in
the stock. The fake gas tube in the foregrip (or the RIS in this
case) is a very nice touch in my opinion since it adds another level
of attention to detail. The one piece outer barrel is even beefier
than the one on the carbine. Crane stock feels much nicer to cheek
than normal retractable stock (warning: do not fall asleep on the
crane stock while staging an ambush.).
The short barrel does not affect range at all, and in fact, the new
generation hop up in the M15s (characterized by the yellow colored
hop up dial instead of the old black ones) gives a lot more hop than
before. I needed to turn the hop up on my old carbine almost all
the way up to have a good effect, but now with the CQB, I just need
to set it somewhere in the middle. The power is still the
out-of-box 1j power CA is known for (though I didn't have a chrono
to confirm this, but simply speculate this from shooting experience
and faith in CA's claim.) The ROF is insane as ever running my 9.6v
crane stock battery probably because of the 7mm bearing. In fact,
it was so hight that I sort of want to decrease it a bit to be more
realistic and conserve ammo.
I heard CA made some changes to the trigger contact plate. I'm not
sure what exactly is changed, but the shooting sound of the CQB is
much cleaner than the carbine, and you don't hear the gear and
spring trying to crank before each shot, but simply the cracks of
the muzzle every time you pull the trigger.
CA also claims every internal part of this CQB is reinforced
somehow, and they made the parts colorful and pretty, and from my
past experience with the carbine, I believe CA.
Hi cap is still as good as before, and so is the Armalite logo. The
position of the vertical grip is easily adjusted without additional
tools.
Ok, so we all heard the good things about the CQB, what's BAD about
it?
First, the manual is bad. In fact, it's so terrible that one should
just burn it out of the box. The manual indicates that pressing
down the lever on the crane stock will allow one to slide the crane
stock out for changing batteries. NOT true. I tried press that as
hard as I could for like 10 minutes, and no luck. I quickly
realized that to slide the crane stock out, instead of pressing that
lever, one needed to pull that lever away from the stock.
Second to the manual, the crane stock is also bad. Now you might ask
how can the crane stock is both good and bad? Well, it's a different
aspect of it that's bad. There are couple caps at the inner end of
the crane stock to hold the battery in place, and those caps on mine
are not built to spec. One of them is especially hard to remove
(requires some twist and turns), and doesn't close properly.
Luckily, the caps on mine don't seem to fall out easily as some of
others do. I've seen people lost those caps, but the function of
those caps are not too important, and one can live without them if
by chance they are lost. Also, it's hard to push the crane stock
all the way in when there's a battery inside. Mine goes as far as
the second inner most position, but I've see other's that can go all
the way in, so it's possible if the wiring of the crane stock
battery is clean, but I don't use the inner most position, so it's
not really a problem.
Third, the RIS doesn't seem to quite line up with the receiver. CA's
receiver is known to be about 1mm higher than real spec, and CA just
attempted to make their RIS also higher so they all line up. It's
certainly lined up good enough that mounting a SIR or anything
requires both RIS and receiver rail is no problem, but somehow, when
I mount an ACOG across the RIS and the receiver rail, the RIS rail
now felt a bit too high.
On the RIS, one of the RIS cover is kind of loose. It's supposed to
click lock in place when one slides it on the RIS, but there's no
click nor lock for one of them while the other one locks in place
like it should, and one needs to press down on the release spring to
slide it out.
Another one is the front sling loop. Unlike the one on the carbine
that's on the side of the barrel for easy 3-point sling attachment.
The sling loop on the CQB is like that on the full rifle, under the
barrel. I don't use it now, and I just loop the front end of my
3-point sling around the front sight post.
Lastly, if you are really picky like me, and if you push the receiver near front tab
where the upper and lower receiver joins, you'll notice a tiny bit
side way room, but the receivers are held together really tight, so
you'll have to really try to push it from side to side to notice
this. I have not noticed this on my old carbine, and this doesn't
not seem to affect anything at all.
Finally, the UGLY:
The plastic CA uses is supposed to by glass-fiber reinforced, and I
don't doubt this at all because all the plastic parts feel solid
with no creaking or flexing. But the finish on the vertical grip
and the RIS cover could use some more work. The pistol grip and
crane stock are as good as before.
Conclusion:
All in all, if you are looking for a compact commando style AEG, get
this gun. You will not be disappointed.
A few more pictures.

Cheap hop-up cover, RIS covers could be tighter

Intro:
I have decided to actually get into skirmishing, and I need an AEG. A good AEG. So...second best is not good enough. I paid Airsoft Warehouse a visit, tested the CQB and was a happy boy. About 3 weeks later, I bought the beast.
First Impressions:
Well, it is sexy. Weighty, but no...anyone who whines about it is a discrace, frankly. It's 3kg, which is fine for me - not light as a feather, but extremely easy to use.
As noted, the weapon is very small, but I knew this before buying it. Just right for any job as far as I'm concerned. Think around about MP5A4 length, as a rough marker.
The finish on the weapon is amazing, the trades are very nice (although, it is fair to say that Armalite trades are in fact inaccurate - but that's a different story).
RIS is very, very nice...shouldn't let anyone down. The covers that come with it are adequate, but could do with a stronger attachment system, as otherwise they slide a litte - not that this is a real problem to overcome, especially is you use the vertical grip.
Charging handle is fake, but looks authentic enough. Forward assist is passable, not overly convincing, but it serves no purpose and most people don't crack out a magnifying glass prior to being shot. It's no concern to me.
Last couple of things...the hop up cover. This is opened by hand, as it is held by a magnet. To me, this is not a hassle of any kind. However, the cover is rather thin and flimsy to the touch. I don't worry about it breaking, etc., but it doesn't have a nice feel.
Finally, the rear aperture block. It is a nice touch, but I don't like using sights particulary, especially not M14/M16/XM177-type sights. I would prefer to have a carry handle; nevertheless, it is fair to say that it was a good choice by CA to fit it instead.
[Edit] - The block sight unit has decided to break on me. The knob on the side fell clean off, so the sight adjustment changes and it doesn't look good. I may get it replaced or I may get a refund on the weapon. Why? Because for £350 I didn't want that hassle. And I'm loving the G36, and I can't justify blowing all of my money. Realistically, I think I had bad luck, it's not a crucial thing and it's easy to replace...I just find it a PITA. If you like the weapon, don't let it put you off. It's probably my bad luck, for I've not heard of it happening to anyone else.
*I got the block sorted aaages ago, but I've now replaced it with an ICS carry handle. Bliss.
Performance:
Due to a small cock-up with a battery connector with my charger, I cannot give you a real run-through. But...I did fire it at the shop, and I was very impressed. The weapon has a very respectavle Rof on a 9.6v battery and is extremely accurate.
[Edit] What can I say? 21+ bbs per second? Nice range, sprays a bit at range, but its up there with the best, especially in stock form. Chronographed it at my last skirmish and got 333fps - no upgrades. I'm happy with that.
With regards to skirmishing, it's a beauty. She does what you want, and some you don't! (like emptying a magazine faster than you can say "hit")
Positives:
- Excellent build quality (true across the M15 range)
- Upgraded internals
- Excellent RIS rails
- Uses a large battery...ah, bliss
- Crane stock is very comfortable
- There are more, but hey, I don't want to take all day...
Negatives:
- Hop up cover FEELS "flimsy", again, true for all M15s.
- Caps for crane stock can be an issue (I don't have fitting troubles, but they have a reputation...I will tape mine to be safe.
- Sling loop would be better if side-mounted. Not an issue for me, I have no sling, and I don't intend on getting one, but something to bear in mind.
Conclusion:
To me, it is just what the doctor ordered. Virtually worthy of a ten, but I must be honest. Still, things I have raised are minor and do not afect operation. Worth the cash if you have it(which I kinda don't, but...I wanted it bad).
Notes:
The crane stock is not as difficult to operate as it might seem, takes a minute or two to change - max. I have a 9.6v 2200mAh battery, and I find it very easy to fit. Also, due to the configuration, it allows me to slide the stock to all positions.
I do know what JussSumGuy meant now, I had some awful wobble. However, took it back to the shop and they replaced part of my RAS and tightened everything and it's not been a problem since.
The manual is helpful overall, certainly to a bit of a newbie like myself. Take into account the point raised above - the adjustment part of the stock needs to be lifted to slide the stock off of the tube.
I hope that's someway helpful. It's very similar to points raised in the other reviews, just obviously I am talking about my own experience. This is my first review, so if it's flawed I do apologise.------------------------------ - CA M15A4 CQB - G&P M4A1 Full Stock - CA MP5A4 Plus double KWA Glock 19s; Sophie & Jethie.
