Laylax PSS10 Smooth Bearing Spring Guide
Part of Laylax's Perfect Sniping System, this smooth bearing spring guide replaces the stock plastic spring guide fitted to the Tokyo Marui VSR-10 range of rifles.
It improves upon the stock spring guide, with stainless steel construction for increased strength and durability, and is also fitted with a bearing to reduce stress on the spring and allow spring rotation under compression.

This spring guide replaces the stock plastic spring guide to increase reliability of your VSR when using a 1J spring (or higher if permitted under your country’s legislation).
I suspect that while the plastic spring guide would be up to the task of handling springs for quite some time, its fully plastic construction means it is quite flexible, and a spring failure would likely destroy or severely damage the spring guide in such and event.
The PSS10 spring guide brings features not found on the stock one. Metal construction increases strength and reliability, something critical when springs are under compression. The bearing also keeps the spring under the least possible stress letting it rotate freely when under force. The smooth shaft of the spring guide is also an improvement over the "+" shaped cross section of the stock part, again allowing smoother movement of the spring when compressed.
As with most PSS10 parts, the price is quite a lot for a spring guide, but I feel it is a price worth paying given the limited options on the market, and the inclusion of the bearing that is absent from other manufacturers offerings.
On a final note, one thing to be cautious with when using this product is the possibility for the spring guide shaft to separate from the base. This can occur during use, and lead to cocking problems with the rifle. Generally unavoidable due to the modular nature of its construction, a simple fix is to either thread lock or ptfe tape the shaft threading, then screw it into the base to ensure a tight fit.
Since doing so myself, I have not had any problems - it is a shame that Laylax do not recommend such actions themselves though. |
