Although now many guns are coming with these standard.
Quite a few guns out there fighting upon the fields are using lower performance motors so i'd still state this as an upgrade for many guns.
I don't know the technical differences, Please view Arnies Motor Comparison for that.
But this motor runs at a much higher speed then the older EG700 although some say it has lower torque, Without running tests, you won't notice.
For the price, i'd definately recomend it to anyone

when i changed the motor in my sr-16 for a m120 high speed motor i had a spare eg1000. when i got my tm mp5 i noticed it was very squeaky so i changed it with my eg1000 and now it sounds much better.
