well where shall i start?
I was pondering which acog sight to purchase after seeing a real one a few years ago on an m4a1 being used by our special forces guys.
So after looking at the various offerings from guarder etc i very nearly brought a red dot acog sight when i stumbled across this one from Star airsoft.
At £90 it was far cheaper than the next one from G&P which is around £150! So I ordered it from Firesupport and eagerly awaited delivery of my new sight.
After nearly tearing the posties arm off on delivery I opened the fairly plain box the sight came in and inspected the product.
First impressions was how light the ACOG is and the brilliant matte black finish covering it.
I was a little disappointed that this ACOG lacks any markings whatsoever, not even a small stamp saying "star". But i did read somewhere that TRIJICON the makers of the real ACOG range of optical sights was getting a little annoyed that some of the airsoft manufacturers were making almost perfect replicas of there product. So it looks like star have vey cleverly decided to retain the basic shape of the ACOG and have done away with adding markings etc.
Anyway enough about that, lets get on with performance!
On staring out of my window using the sight (not fitted to the m4a1) i was amazed at the clearness of the image and the aiming reticle.
This sight also has easy to use zeroing screws on the top and side which are stiff enough so they wont lose zero after a hard days skirmish possibly banging into stuff.
Fitting to my m4a1 was very quick and the retaining nuts have small washers fitted so the paint finish doesnt get scratched up.
The lack of dust covers could present a small problem in the summer but carrying a lens cloth purchased from a local camera shop should combat this.
All in all i am very impressed with this sight, it has the looks and performance that will only add to the skirmish experience, be it a woodland or urban setting this sights optics utilize your eyes own focusing abilities and provides a clear image for short and long distances ( not that the rifle will fire past 40m but good for observing enemy 300m away).
