some fiddling to get the mags seating right.

This is my first AEG, so I had spent ages trying to make up my mind over which one to get. In the end the sheer beauty of the M14 won out.
OK so out of the box the first thing is WOW! She’s big! Second thing is Damn she’s heavy! The plastic mock wood is excellent you really do have to touch it to make certain its plastic. The painted black metal work and plastic upper fore stock is good but I may dry brush her with some light grey to give more depth to the definition.
The complimentary sling works and doesn’t look too bad, but I’m certain I’ll replace it at some point.
So after charging the battery, i got her loaded up and ready to rock.
The battery hatch is easy to open but being under the flick up shoulder guard means that you'd have to do something really stupid for it to come open accidentally. The battery fits snugly and there’s no rattle.
The mags however both the 240rd that comes with it and my 3 G&P mid caps, all suffer from one failing. Well actually the mag wells failing. The front 'hook' that the mags catch on is a little too small, so the hang from the mag catch at the rear and do not feed bb's.
This problem however was solved by putting a small brass strip on top of the front mag catch to make it more pronounced. Hey presto excellent faultless feeding from both mag types.
The 20mm rail is a pain if you don't mount a scope as it interferes with the sight lines. This is not a big issue as it slides out with the removal of 1 large thumb screw.
Shooting she’s as accurate in auto as semi, and at 20m I’m hitting 20mm fence poles.
Without a crono I can't really give any idea of power but she certainly flings the bb’s out to a fair range (I haven’t gauged her range accurately yet).
To be honest I know some people might think her 5Kgs is a bit heavy, but the weight suits her, has does her size. She just looks gorgeous, and feels excellent.
At just under £100 including p&p from gunner I honestly think I’ve hit lucky with my first purchase.
I’ll be taking her out to my first skirmish on the 10th of march at the Cumbrian Airsoft site, so I’ll let you know how she does on a two way range.
OK so turned up at Cumbrian airsoft, (who by the way were lovly freindly people) First 3 games went great she shoots well, the auto is a bit slow mind, however the semi was right on the money.
Then disaster struck!!! She stopped dead no drop off in power no grinding nothing. i've not taken her to bits yet as i'm knackered but according to the very helpful marshals and an even more helpful and knowledgable gamer called scott it is either the motor contacts or a fuse blown! which sucked.
I'll let you know what the problem was so you can continue to judge this gun.
OK i finally dragged my ass to the desk to get her fixed. Fuse blown? nope that'd be easy to fix, dud motor connections ? nope. Broken trigger sear? yup.
ARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH the sear suffered a brittle failure and snapped thus the trigger is no longer connected in any meaningful manner to the mech.
Sucks. I've dropped my rating of this gun as if such a hard use part sufferes a brittle failure after 3 games then i'm not to certain of the long term implications.
RSOV to the rescue, complete gearbox and motor £30 problem solved!

cheap to by . tokyo marui compatability

|
Cons:

poor finish of metalwork and general quality

I own two M14's one is a tokyo marui socom and one is a chinese copy. There realy is no comparison. the semi auto broke on mine after about 500 rounds due to a worn cam in the gearbox
although these are made of steel the quality is suspect. the hop up is very poor and needs constant adjusting resulting in crap accuracy my marui m14 will put shot after shot in a six inch group at 20 metres, it's chinese counterpart would be pushed to get a six foot group. It is a clone of the tokyo marui so spares should be compatable but considering you can pick up the genuine article for around £225.00 as i did from Elite shooting centre , my advice is to save the extra hundred quid and buy the marui it'll be cheeper in the long run. they are like chalk and cheese.

I have this gun for a week and my current impression is it is one of my best purchases.
The AGM hicaps are fairly good. They hold 280 rounds and feed around 150 of those on one wind.
I got some range testing yesterday. First off, forget full auto. You will not hit anything with it a range. Semi is a different beast. With iron sights I hit a soda can at ranges of 30-40 meters with a least a 70% hit ratio. Scoped in (3x9-40 TASCO) I was hitting it at 50 meters with around 60% hit rate. That's in on a very small target. All of the shots hit within a person's head sized area at that range. I can't wait to put a PDI 6.01 tightbore or TK twist barrel in it.
My gun also is able to pierce both sides of soda can. The bottom is a clean pierce.
That puts it at 390FPS+
I don't know if this is a new upgraded version or just a fluke that all of my cans are really weak.
There are negatives. The paint is easy to scratch as is most clones. A can of Krylon fixes that though. TM, STAR, KA, and G&P mags may need a 30 second file job to fit. The stock battery connectors are reversed. Again 30 second fix. The gun lacks a fuse. Another cheap fix. $5 at the local RadioShack and you get a fuse box and 5 spares.

I will add more when I can get a chrono and a battle report in April.
Edit: Well I was just putting about the 1000th round through it when low and behold the semi-auto turns to full auto. I took it apart to look at the contacts and they are drenched in grease and charred black. The whole selector system is very weak, white brittle plastic and flimsy pot metal. I retract some of my previous statements about the greatness of this gun. Until the quality of these parts are improved I will have to says avoid.
Edit2: All right. I got a new cut off lever and that fixed the full auto problem. The gearbox turned out to be fairly good inside. Compression was very good. I found the spring to be at least an M120 rating. It is two inches longer than my stock CA M90 spring. Reshimmed and with metal bushing installed it works great now. Mine might have been a fluke. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is does not know how to work on gearboxes.
Edit3: I replaced the spring with a stock CA spring to allow it to be legal at my local field. It chronoed in at 290FPS at 13RPS.
Edit4: 9/1/07
The switch finally snapped. I was able to "weld" it back together. I have about lost my patience with this gun. My final verdict. Avoid.

I bought this gun about 2yrs ago from kapowwe.com. I always wanted an m14 but was to cheap to buy the G&G or TM ones. For the price it is good.
Externals :
The gun is mostly plastic. The stock is plastic and so is the heat sheild. The barrel, cocking handle and bolt is metal. The gun is very long and heavy. It makes it sometimes hard move around in thicker woods.
Internals:
They arent too special. there all metal and put together well but are over greased. the hop up is annoying to fix and mines doesnt work that great.
Performance:
when the first time I used it it jammed up after two mags worth. Thinking the barrel is dirty or the hop up over adjusted. i cleaned the barrel and took off the hop up. I started shooting agian and if worked fine. However this problem kept coming up. I started to get annoyed. Till one day I used a stronger battery then I using in it and the problem went away. This gun has good range and accuratey. But it also eats up any batteries i use in it. For a stock gearbox the batteries disappear qucikly.
MAGS:
the mags are bitter sweet. they are full metal which is a plus but they jam up alot and they unwine randomly when the gun is used heavily. One thing I noticed is that tm mags dont catch in the mag well so they fall out if hit slighty
This gun is good for about a year I used it alot. It jamed up alot and i always had to clean it all the time. One day when i was using a 1800 9.6V battery the rof dropped while firing. thinking it was the battery i changed it out with a new one and it was the same. I opened the gun up and looked at the motor. the motor was black and very hot. Im glad I took it apart before it got worse. I replace it with the ics turbo 3000 motor, and the rof is insane now but im not sure how long will it last.
good gun for the price. Not the best m14 on the market but it holds it own. Its a good beginner gun and if you want to use it as a project gun this is great beacuse its a tm clone.
