Description:

The Crye MultiCam Field Shirt is not as "high speed" as the CRYE Combat Pants but it is a major improvement over a standard BDU top. The pockets are placed in such a way that you have access to them even with an assault vest or body armor on.
My search for the best multi-season camo is over.

CRYE PRECISION's MULTICAM OVERVIEW
When I began playing Airsoft in 2000 I was outfitted in standard US issue BDU's. As my play developed so did camouflage technology. I was quick to see the advantages of MARPAT outside of the uniqueness of it. I spent a fair amount on genuine issue MARPAT and re-outfitted most of my tac gear with MARPAT equivalents. When the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) made its debut I figured I needed a set to round out my camo collection.
Since starting Airsoft I have used; Woodland BDU's, Flecktarn, MARPAT, Black BDU's, Urban MARPAT, ACU's and now finally CRYE's MultiCam. I do not think it is the last set of camo I will ever own. But I can tell you my search for the best multi-season camo is over.
General Observations
The quality of these garments is unmatched by any clothing I have ever owned. The stitching is clean and durable and bartacked. A great deal of time must have gone into the research and development of everything from pocket placements to types of velcro. Everything about the garments... work. I only have one gripe about the placement of one seam. More on that in the CRYE Field Shirt review. Everything about these garments are engineered for mobility and as a result they move better then regular clothing, especially the Combat Pant.
Crye Multicam Field Shirt
The field shirt is not as "high speed" as the CRYE Combat Pants but it is a major improvement over a standard BDU top. The pockets are placed in such a way that you have access to them even with an assault vest or body armor on. More so then even a set of MARPAT. Though the pockets are placed similar, they are larger and easier to access on CRYE's Field Shirt then on the MARPAT top. The chest pockets close with a soft velcro that is surprisingly quiet. There is also pre-placed velcro for name tapes (chest) and unit patches, blood type etc (sleeves).
There are a a total of 8 pockets (not including elbow pad insert pockets and pen pocket). One pocket on each side of the chest slant to the middle of chest and close with velcro. Behind each of these is a handy pocket that has a permanent opening on the armpit side. Still a great place to stuff gloves or anything else you take off in a hurry and just need to stuff someplace. The remaining four pockets are on the shoulders. It's two pockets with one flap. These sizeable pockets (about 6") are great for a notepad, sunglasses.
The elbow pad pocket is a fantastic idea, albeit not an entirely new idea. But this one is reinforced with 500D Cordura instead of the 50/50 USMC NYCO twill that the rest of the shirt is made from. The elbow pad pocket is large enough for easy inserting and removal of molded elbow pad. Maybe too large. I had some trouble with the pad moving around in the pocket and not being in perfect position for my elbow in my prone tests. My elbow never came in contact with the ground, the pad was always there, just not in the same spot each time. I think a slightly smaller pocket might have fixed this. There is also a seem that runs down your arm and over your elbow. This is only an issue if you are wearing anything other then a long sleeved shirt under your field shirt. It makes a little bit of a hot spot if you are on your elbows for any length of time. My only gripe about this item. And not a major one at that.
All in all this is still the best BDU type top I have ever come across. Not as revolutionary as the CRYE Combat Pants but it has upgrades in all the right places and improvements where it counts.
