This is a review of the CYMA AK-47 CM.028 Airsoft AEG.
Real steel history:
During World War II, the Germans developed the assault rifle concept, based upon research that showed that most firefights happen at close range, within 300 meters. The power and range of contemporary rifle cartridges was excessive for most small arms firefights. As a result, armies sought a cartridge and rifle combining submachine gun features (large-capacity magazine, selective-fire) with an intermediate-power cartridge effective to 300 meters. To reduce manufacturing costs, the 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge case was shortened, the result of which was the lighter 7.92x33mm Kurz (German: Short).
The resultant rifle, the Sturmgewehr 44 (StG44) was not the first with these features; its predecessors were the Italian Cei-Rigotti and the Russian Fedorov Avtomat design rifles. The Germans, however, were the first to produce and field sufficient numbers of this assault rifle to properly evaluate its combat utility. Towards the end of the war, they fielded the weapon against the Soviets; the experience deeply influenced Soviet military doctrine in the post-war years.
Mikhail Kalashnikov began imagining his assault rifle while in hospital after being wounded in the Battle of Bryansk.[4] A frequent topic of conversation among the patients was the lack of an automatic rifle to match those of the Germans. After tinkering with designs, he entered a competition that had been launched for a new weapon that would take the 7.62x41mm cartridge developed by Elisarov and Semin in 1943. (The 7.62x41mm cartridge predated the current 7.62x39mm). A particular requirement of the competition was the reliability of the firearm in the muddy, wet, and frozen conditions of the Soviet frontline. Influenced by the simplicity of the design of Aleksei Sudaev's PPS-43 submachine gun, Kalashnikov produced his "Mikhtim" (derived from his first name and patronymic) and won the competition after it was dragged through mud, sand, and dust and was still able to fire without jamming. The "Mikhtim" was the prototype for the development of a family of firearms which culminated in the AK-47 in 1947.

First impression:
When first opening the box, I was relatively dissappointed. A nice styrofoam case with a cheap cardboard top... oh joy. Once I held the rifle, It was pretty much what I had expected for the price - heavy, some metal parts and fake wood. I charged the lever, and immediately notcied that it was an aluminum-plastic composite.

In this case, I'd have to say that you get what ya pay for.
Accuracy:
I'd give it a 9/10 here. It was really accurate for a cheap little AK-47, and I was only using .12g bbs.
Conclusion:
Buy this gun if you are willing to spend $115 (I think that's about... 70 Euros? NOt sure...) and then another $100 to upgrade it to something acceptable.

I believe the poster above me got the CM022, or just got a lemon. Sad for him (though his review made me glad he got ripped off).
In any case, lets get on with the review. The CM028 has a newer version that has a brass inner barrel, TM compatible hop-up as well as other nifty features. More on that later.
Build Quality:
Considering its an old release of CYMA, the plastic is relatively nice compared to a TM. I personally dont like plastiwood in general, but it does have texture. Plastic is abound in this model, but the top reviewer got his facts WRONG.

The front assembly block (where the rear sight leaf lies) is plastic, not metal.
Performance:
Ah, the meat of the review. The CM028 performs well out of the box ranging 300 from a Guarder chrono. However, my friend (who now owns it) slapped on a systema m120 spring and the CM028 shot up from 300 to 460 (settled to 430). Considering he only dropped in a spring and left everything stock (metal bushings changed in of course) he had amazing compression.
Accuracy is decent (when it was 300) It could hit a human sized target at roughly 75 feet away, good enough for most skirmishes.
Whats in the box:
The CYMA 028 comes with the normal Chinasoft gear, a lackluster battery, a decent magazine, a suspicious charger, and other junk. The magazine feeds well, and the battery should be ditched and replaced for better cycles.
All in all the CYMA CM028 is good for the money, especially now since its about 110-120 shipped from evike.
