The rap4.com guys were kind enough to send over 3 variants of their throat mic's, for Arnie's to test in field and review.
Rap4.com carries 4 variants of their throat mic’s. Each variant has a different earpiece. The 3 we tested all had equal earpiece sound quality, so it seems to be personal preference on which 1 a person should get.
We tested these today at a private game and they held up great for all day, rainy day use.
The throat band is elastic, and has a clever magnetic clasp. So no worries getting hung up in that the magnets will release under some pressure. These have a single throat microphone pickup and seem to work in almost any position at the front of the neck. These were comfortable to wear and did not feel any added pressure around the throat from all day wear.
The earpieces were equally comfortable and sound quality was good. No complaints from any of the users regarding comfort. Tehse earpieces are modular as well, you can switch or replace just the earpiece.
The PTT switch is also VOX switchable. VOX picked up lot of “loud” noises as it should (Gearbox sounds would set them off), so PTT was better to use. The PTT button is rather small, so it’s best to mount it somewhere easily accessible to the user.
These throat mic’s are Motorola FRS Radio single pin, ready to use. RAP4.com also has pin adapters for other radio models as well.
Many thanks to rap4.com for supplying test products! |
