Description: pouch modeled on the british army PLCE system's water bottle pouch. fastex type clip on the lid, alongside velcro securing strip. velcro and snap flap on back, with PLCE type "tabs" to secure in place on PLCE belt.

appears on thier website as "utility pouch", although their 2008/9 catalogue lists this as a seperate item, a copy of the army utillity pouch, which is slightly smaller, has different belt fittings, and tabs for the PLCE yoke to be fitted.
Keywords: web-tex, water, bottle, pouch, PLCE, DPM

Positive aspects of the product (pros): cheap, decent carrying space
Cons: poor snaps on main belt loop

The web-tex PLCE water bottle pouch is modeled after the british army standard issue water bottle pouch, with a few changes.
The first of these is that web-tex use synthetic dyes to create the DPM couloration of their PLCE line. unfortuenately these dyes do not meet the british army's standards for reducing Infa-Red, and so they are unsuitable for millitary use. this does mean, however, that thier coulor lasts longer before fading.
while the issue version uses a "spanish" style securing method, with a loop fitted to the pouch, a loop on the top flap which goes over this, and a "pin" which inserts into the pouch loop to keep the flap loop in place untill the tab attached to it is pulled, the web-tex version uses a fastex type clip. this takes slightly longer to open, but is slightly easier to close when you have cold fingers, or are wearing gloves. it also uses a strip of velcro on the flap and pouch as an extra securing method, although this can be de-activated using the silencing strip, which is sewn into the front of the pouch, and loops over onto the pouch side velcro.
Inside the pouch there is plenty of space for a 58 pattern waterbottle, mug, and space left over behind the internal divider that can be used for a hexamine burner (a tight fit) or other small items (glowsticks fit quite well).
Despite hearing several complaints about the quality of web-tex's sewing, I can see no issue with the construction of the pouch itself, no loose threads, or any outward signs of anything being amiss.
on the rear, we find the belt fixings, which allow the pouch to be fitted to a PLCE belt, or any other belt. there are infact two belt loops, one larger one, with enough room for most belts (except for some of the bulkier duty types) which is fitted with two plastic tabs used to secure the pouch in place on a PLCE type belt, and is secured at the bottom by a strip of velcro and two metal snaps. unfortuneately the snaps and velcro are none to secure. during fairly light use (no running, jumping, crawling ect) a loaded pouch (i.e. full water bottle) can come undone at this point, leading to the pouch falling off the belt. this can be sorted by running a peice of para-cord under one side of the velcro, through the Grommet found in the center of the belt flap, between the two snaps, and tying it off. a cable tie would do just as well.
the second belt loop is far smaller, and is (I believe) designed to take a utility strap or bungee, which some soldiers use to increase the stability of thier webbing rigs. I have also used it when using the pouch as a jury-rigged drop leg pouch, to run a leg strap.

overall it is a fairly good pouch for non-millitary use, unfortuneately let down considerably by it's weak pouch snaps. if those where sorted it would be perfect, but at present you're better off with Issue gear, or annother maker.
