Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good grip and markings, looks good.
Cons: Dodgy safety, cheapish metal outer barrel, a bit light

Bought from Redwolf,

Looks wise it's great, there are some mould lines on the frame but they're faint, I had to use the torch to see them clearly. Weight is on the light side at 668grams, which is a bit of a shame, the real version comes in at 700 g unloaded.

Markings are good and clear on the frame although on the slide the signiture "Walther" and "P99" markings on the left hand side of the slide are a bit weak. The metal outer barrel looks a bit "dull", the edges or markings arent crisp, it looks like the outer barrel is moulded with the markings rather than the markings added later. There is also a 1 mm gap between the back of the metal outer barrel and the slide.

The grip feels great, quick to sight and feels natural, the backstop feels rubberised and the rest of the frame is non-rubberized ABS plastic, it does look good. Accuracy wise, I put all but 2 shots from the 23 round magazine into a 2 inch grouping, I counted 53 shots before the gas gave out and stopped cycling.

The slide appears to have a two part metal internal frame with a thin plastic shell, so I hope this makes it safe for propane? . Recoil is nice, snap and crisp, not much of a kick.

A test shot, on propane clocked up 289 fps with .20 grams, a day later I tried a fresh mag and fired 5 more shots, coming out as 308, 309, 315, 303 and 305. Trigger pull unfortuantly feels plasticy and a bit gritty but very light when the trigger is in the second position.

Metal parts, outer barrel, internal frame, magazine. The sights and trigger are plastic, with white (rather dull white at that) inserts on the sights.

On the top of the slide is a button to decock the gun, this was at the beginning a bit gritty but smoothed up as time went by.

Silencer fits on the inside of the barrel, and not surprisingly doesn't really make it quieter (most noise seems to be coming from the action rather than the 'retort'), I'm not a silencer fan anyway.

Torch looks good, powered by two cr1233a batteries, and seems very bright for a LED torch (admittedly I've only owned the cheap stuff you get for a few quid down the market before).

There's text on the right hand side of the slide stating that the markings are licenced from Carl Walther, Gmbh, though I don't know if this means the replica can be imported into the US without the trades being obscured or removed.

The downside, the safety is a bit dodgy, you can engage the safety by pushing the pull down level to the left from the right handside of the frame however the gun still fires (very weakly and doesn't cycle but it does still discharge gas). If you cock the gun then engage the safety it does prevent the replica from firing.

Other than the slightly dodgy safety I can't find any other bad points against this gun, it feels great, looks good, markings arent that deep and the markings on the outer barrel are a bit dull but no major issues that I can find. It would have been nice had it been heavier (it's lighter than an unloaded real P99), but otherwise appears to perform well and has a good blowback action.

Overall a nice gun to own.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Unique, accurate, pointability, incredibly comfortable, great build quality
Cons: Light compared to other GBBs, odd (but not so noticeable) hue to stock plastic slide

I have the Desert Tan version of Maruzen's latest "Movie Prop" P99. The package includes a rather pretty tan-framed P99, a fairly useless but neatly designed flashlight and mount, and a nicely finished silencer.
The frame material is absolutely gorgeous, and vastly better than the black frame of my P99 Compact. Overall, the gun is pretty much flawless in terms of build and finish, as the tan colouration makes seams much less intrusive than the black version...if only the metal parts were as well finished the P99 could compete with WA in terms of appearance.
That very pleasing matte sand colour makes an already quirky, relatively rare gun that extra bit special.
Pity then that the slide is that odd matte grey colour that Maruzen use on all their P99s, but despite this, the slide does look good, with very neat and accurate markings.
The metal barrel is also a neat little addition, with internal threads to allow you to attach the included silencer. It helps the slide make a fantastic metallic clank when its racked, a sound that approaches the WA Beretta PVs for realism Smile Very cool!

Performance-wise, the Maruzen is no slouch. I've only tested it at about 10ft but accuracy is very good: 1-inch groups can be achieved without even trying very hard, which is probably a testament to the Walthers natural pointing characteristics rather than my accuracy Wink
Power is good too, about average for a GBB of this type running on HFC134a. The metal subframe of this slide might warrant the use of Green now and then for the brave souls out there. For now, 134a is enough for me!
Blowback is average, probably due to the fairly weak return springs that Maruzen use (to dissuade propane use, maybe?), but it is reliable and positive.
The only (and I do mean only) issue I have with the P99 is its weight. It seems lighter than my KSC USP Compact, but this may be due to its good balance and the fairly weighty magazine. The two guns are also very similar in size, though in reality the P99 is quite a bit smaller than most other Wonder-nines like the P226 or Beretta. The real-steel is also quite light, and Maruzen have replicated features like the polymer guide-rod, so we can't be too harsh on them.
I've deducted 2 points (minus one for the gun, and another for the kit) only because of the light-ish weight and the utterly useless tactical light, which although looking cool, doesn't come with a battery, isn't great in beam quality, and has odd rocker-pin actuated switches.
Apart from that, the P99 is pretty good value for a high-end, silencer-equipped GBB that even comes in its own hardcase!

Update: I recently got the new Prime slide for the P99 and the upgraded Firefly recoil unit...the slide is great, practically drop-in and lube-up.
The recoil unit makes the P99 on 134a suprisingly snappy but on Green it kicks VERY HARD, and I'm not sure if the internals can take the stress.
I'd rather not break the gun just yet Wink

Positive aspects of the product (pros): One of the best GBBs out there
Cons: Not the most solid piece to have, takedown is harder than a GLOCK

I ordered my P99 movie prop edition from Safara Airsoft in San Marino last week. I've always been a Bond fan, so a P99 was a goal in terms of GBBs. (I actually sold my ICS MP5A5 to buy the Walther!)

The package is brilliant. The hard case is very handy, as it holds the pistol, the supressor, and the somewhat useless led flashlight (useless in a game, because its actually better than my Walther Tactical flashlight).

The pistol itself is the most ergonomic, balanced and comfortable piece I've ever handled. I've handled GLOCKs, H&K's and S&W's, but this one is the best. The DA/SA is brilliant. The small red pin that comes out when the weapon is cocked, or during the trigger pull during DA, is the best safety feature. The decocker and the trigger lock are also very nice safety features.

This is the best GBB I've ever had - I'd been a GLOCK man for quite some time...
The Walther P99 isn't the most solid thing to hold, but its tough enough for any skirmish or milsim game. The supressor is purely a prop. It looks great, but it's not practical. It makes the pistol longer and harder to aim, and it doesn't really supress any sound. It just muffles it a bit.

Overall, this is a great piece, for the average skirmisher to the GBB aficionado. And lets be honest, how many guys do you know that play with the P99?

Positive aspects of the product (pros): looks and feels awesome
Cons: fixed hop up= no range( bbs make a mad dash to the ground after 15-20 ft)

i have the sand movie prop edition, silencer is pretty much useless and the light provides a good target to be shot at. i love the way walther's look. the markings on the gun are great.

i bought this gun hoping to use it as my back up for my sniper rifle. unfortunately the range lacks so much that i had to buy another gun.

in my area sniper's have a minimum engagement distance of 60 ft. . the maruzen makes it about 20 ft before it makes a dive to the earth. i'm not a fan of the fixed hop up, and don't think i will ever buy a gun with the fixed hop up again.

i'm using green gas (propane) and .3's to get the best performance out of the gun. from close up (10ft) this gun works exactly how you'd expect.

so far i've had no problems with the gun, the saftey doesnt work, but my finger is my safety anyways. hahah.

so all in all this piece looks awesome but performs below average. one cool thing is that i can shoot around trees and over bunkers.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Faithfully recreates the real deal, comfortable to hold, accurate, nice blowback
Cons: hates propane

I have both of the Movie Prop Editions, as well as a real steel P99. The Maruzen guns are hardly distinguishable from the real Walther P99. As a result, they are just as comfortable to hold.

These guns offer awesome blowback on both GG and 134a, however my extensive use with GG has caused some problems (failure to cycle on occasion).
